IIRC, its the normal H4.

Yep H4, Phillips vision Plus are good, although Des has some very bright ones, can't recall what they were though :(

Des has:

Blue tint headlight bulbs

You could also try the Phillips Vision Plus bulbs which give a nice light and are quite bright, or if you wish to go the wrong side of legality, the Phillips Rallye bulbs are good, 90/100 . Prices are

Well, I've just ordered a set of each of the ones from Powerbulbs, just for comparative testing :D

I got the Blue Vision Ultras from Powerbulbs.

The side light bulbs do emit a nice blue light and the main light is very white. Lights up the road nicely but in retrospect probably would have gone for the Vision Plus for the extended light path.

Another recommendation for Powerbulbs - on-line and reliably quick. I went for the Philips Vision Plus ones for my 4x4 as they've worked well on previous cars (a lot better for the Impreza).

Expect better performance but not Xenon standards and you won't go far wrong

Rob

I have Osram Silverstars - better than standard, but not amazingly so.

Yes the bulbs are H4.

Does anyone have experience of using the Philips All Weather bulbs that are on the Powerbulb site?

Adam.

Thanks all

Just ordered the Plasma 85 watts from IP, meant to be as bright as 100's but friendlier to the wiring, didnt want to fit 100's or 130's & blow the loom halfway across Europe. Probably OK but not taking a chance !!

Stuart

Adam, no haven't tried them, even forgot to order some  Ordered 3 different sets for testing but somehow missed those. Might order a set next week to compare. At least I won't be stuck if I blow a bulb :D

dont bother with the halfords bulbs... tied them in mine little or no diff...

anyone tried the xenon upgrade kits on www.vagparts.com

?

Butt's have the OE Xenon lamps listed @ around

Howard you can't hide in here you know - you were going to do some work IIRC

The bulbs I ordered yesterday arrived this morning :)

Top marks to www.powerbulbs.com , very impressed! :D

Just opened the package, and hey, they've sent me some free Phillips Blue Vision Ultra Sidelights!

Now I really am impressed, I'd heard they were a good company to use and I've recommended them in the past but this is the first time I've used them. I WILL be using them again

Jon

ffelan,

Just had a look at the Xenon light upgrade kit and I think the legality of these is questionable.

I am sure that you have to have headlamp auto level system and wash if you use xenon light units?

Incidentally, I have also used Powerbulbs in the past and I would confirm that their service is 1st class!

John.

Which is why they are sold as "off road use only". It covers the supplier in case you are stopped. Much like a full decat exhaust is sold as a Group N exhasut system, not for road use.

I could have sworn I saw one of those on a road-going RS at Jabba recently. So its not road-legal, then? thinks.gif

Correct. Any roadside check by the police would prove costly.

:D

Nope, it wouldn't :p I would have 7 days to rectify it / get a pass certificate from a MOT station and take to the policestation to say it met the required emissions standards. ;):D

Anyway, back to the bulbs...

I have now done some very unscientific tests:

Phillips Rallye bulbs, 90/100 (no Den, they ain't legal  )

Bright with a normal beam spread and a fair range on them, exceptional on full beam. Quite like these ones. The only thing I'm not so keen on having driven with the PIAA Platinum Super Whites is the colour. Its like going back to the standard bulbs, albeit much brighter. They have a slightivory tinge to them.
