Torque Pro and 0-60

Featured Replies

its best just in "D" , you get a tiny squeak , and you're off! the perfect "granny start" not bogging down, no wheelspin... brilliant :) simply by mashing your foot down!

Nexens are appaling, 75ps Citigo would spin wheels on that rubber :D.

RS-R are wicked. At Bedford track on previous tyres I was spinning wheels and hugely under-steering on each corner exit. On RS-R's the under-steer is still there but greatly reduced and and I can lay down all the power I have without spinning the wheels. I run stock engine and the tyres have more grip that the engine has power.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but fitted some GPS gear to the monte tonight on  the way home from work theres a set of traffic lights at the start of a 60mph road so thought i would see how it would go.

Run num  Speed(mph)  Time(s)  Dist(m)

1               0.00                 0          0.00

1               10.00             1.04       2.08

1               20.00             1.98       8.37

1               30.00             3.75       28.32

1               40.00             4.95       47.15

1               50.00             7.18       92.17

1               60.00             9.22       142.73

managed to beat the book figure by a second

I've been using torque pro for 3 years now, I have some tips for your 0-60 runs. GPS is fairly good for timed runs, but to get the best accuracy you should turn it off and use the OBD speed. Provided you have checked the OBD vs GPS and verified your speedo is accurate. The OBD speed refreshes faster than the GPS so you can get a more accurate time. Also the Bhp figure requires that the vehicle mass is accurate, if you enter duff details you will get duff results.

My gps set up is pretty accurate, it was used as part of a race team I helped with for 7-8 years and was always within .1 with the official lap timers.

My bhp and torque figures also came from Awesome's dyno :)

?

Was the book time you beat by 1 second 0-60 mph or 0-100kmh (62 mph)?

Im not suggesting your figures are inaccurate for a moment. I'm simply saying that in general someone using the app could get a more precise time by using the OBD speed as long as the OBD has been verified to be correct or very close. The reason it will be more accurate is that the refresh rate of the OBD speed can be higher than that of the GPS (depending on the settings).

The ones I've seen for 0-60 is 10.2

Although parkers list 10.6

I understand that the issue with the OBD speed though is if you spin your wheels then it could show you doing 30mph when your actually doing 15 which is why in racing we use gps.

That's true enough, but you aren't going to be spinning the wheels at 60mph

The first link there in Car Pages is 0-62 mph, 10.2 seconds which was my point.

Magazines and journalists quote different figures taken from Media Packs and these are often not even the 'Official Figures'.

Anyway tyres make so much difference as does weight etc.

(The figures given never say what the Ambient or ground temperatures were, or which tyres were on a vehicle.)

Accurate timing is rather inportant in fractions of seconds, or even a second.

Why those that bother use a VBOX or such.

PS

As to VW Group figures, they are fiction.

They can have a Heavier VW or Audi with the same Drive Train being quicker in the brochure and with a lower VED and better MPG just because they cost more than the Lighter Skoda or Seat.

Then Magazines help the VW Group,

if testing or comparing cars surely getting 5 doors or 3 doors is not exactly difficult if you bother getting somewhere near accurate comparisons.

Depends, get some ice, handbrake on and dump the clutch ;)

Mines is the same as a vbox set up also on contisport contact 5s

There you go then, you get the sort of performance you would expect at not very high above sea level in a pretty non extreme environment.

ie, not very quick 0-62 mph. Pretty pathetic really with 114.5 BHP

Just as well they are better 30-70 mph or so.

glad to know i meet your expectations  :D

It was the car not you that i meant, but maybe you are getting the best it has to offer.

A remap would be worth doing.

CR170 turbo will go on if the remap is done!
