New Fabia III On Show At The Trafford Centre 14th-17th Feb

Recommended Posts

Nope.... not duff info at all. I have just come back from the Trafford Centre and there is a Skoda Fabia stand just next to WH Smith. They had two SE L's on show, one a white estate and the other a black with white room hatch, all the bods were from HQ not Claybank and they even asked to film me ..... How could i refuse so i said yes and they were asking me what i liked about the car and what i thought of it against the other older models and the competition. I even managed to get Briskoda into the piece to camera ! I did mention i liked the look of the estate and that it was a step up from the older model and i also like the different configurations you can now choose.... oh and it would be nice if there were a VRS version soon.... they said 6-9 months.....

Overall it was a decent stand and there were lots of people there, the estate version would be for me, in 1.2 SE L spec with the DSG. Its simply more useful for what i need now and the extra room in the back is substantial over the hatch version. I think it was a good stand and both cars did look very good, they lead guy there did say they should of had the estate version with the panaramic roof but when it came into port they had asked fror a room rack to be fitted to it and the half-wit doing it had somehow managed to crack the glass roof !!! I would of liked to have see and estate with a full glass roof.

I've just checked out the SEL Fabia Estate at David Ian Skoda Morecambe.  I doubt I'll buy a MK3 Fabia

when the Monte Estate, with a SUNROOF that opens, is due for replacement in 2 years time.

It seems that a panoramic roof, which does not open - waste of money, is the only option.

Sunroof aside the MK3 estate looked the business.  Maybe an aftermarket sunroof is an option?

Keith

PS David Ian Skoda Morecambe is a great garage I've used them since 2003 for 3 Octavias

prior to the current Monte.

Interesting how people prioritise things differently. With air con available on just about every car nowadays I feel that a sunroof is completely pointless.

Even with aircon i do miss a sunroof, there is something on a sunny (BUT NOT TOO HOT) day to open the windows and open the sunroof..... 70% on the way to be a soft top !!!

Of course not... it was not that interesting ! I went with my family for breakfast and a mooch around the stand, The main purpose was to see if they had the estate (big tick) and to check out the seats and how big the boot area was, mission a success and the estate also looked (for once) better than the hatch next to it.. in my opinion.

Did you manage to see the space below the main boot area? I'm trying to find picture of Fabias without the extra tire

Yes definitely

I did look under the carpet cover and the one on display did have an actual spare wheel and tyre, there was also some kind of storage area in front of the wheel to put .... something in, not that big but big enough for say 4 x 4 litre bottles of milk.

I guess old habits die hard, the last car I owned that did not have a sunroof was a MK1 Ford Escort

back in the early 70's.  Every car since: Ford Capri 2.8, Volvo 850R, VW Corrado VR6, etc etc

plus the 3 MK1 Octavia Elegance all had factory sunroofs

Air con does little for me & steams up windows, climate control, yes, that is an all round benefit, especially so if

one is driving in city centres in hot humid conditions, which thankfully these days I'm not.

But for me a sun roof is essential, my MX5 of course is even better!!!

now me I am the opposite way, for me a sun roof is a reason not to buy a car

I hate the things, always troublesome and source of many leaks etc

and the big one for me is glass shatters in event of the unthinkable happening where as steel crumples and stays between me and the road if for some reason the car overturns

and I hate sunlight overhead (and no I don't do foreign holidays where you liberally coat yourself in oil, lay in the sun and turn repeatedly over so you spit roast yourself)

I see a panel of fragile glass as a weakness in the structure of my car, and another cost on my insurance if it breaks and have to make a claim

Intersting :nerd: , but i would need to see it with the roof on as well and i am not overly keen on the rear, especially the carry handle type '' spoiler ''... the 300 watt sound system is a big plus though, i wish they did an option for the Fabia.... still got that god awful info pod stick on screen though which you would need to attach and detach every time you got in and got out, i stopped doing that when the ' face-off ' stereo's went into history.

Can't see it as much fun as i have on this -

Seen the new Fabia today at Trafford Centre , thoughts? Well its the new Fabia, looks and feels good if a little dull and not overly special even though it was the SEL model.I don't feel a immediate urge to change from my mark II.  I was a little surprised that the man on the stand asked me when this Fabia came out , I replied , I thought you could tell me ! I then went on to enlighten him . They are sending me a Brochure and I filled in a pretty silly survey about Skoda and what I thought of the Stand. One good thing is that the Trafford Centre was very busy so lots of people are seeing the new car which has to be good for Skoda .

I have sat in a Citroen C4 Picasso with the full glass roof..... and i must admit to liking it a lot, the whole car is just filled with light, so different to having a solid roof above you, it really was different.
