Aux install and sat nav install.

Featured Replies

I've got a 2005 octavia elegance mk2 with the stream head unit, after reading a lot of posts on here and messaging sellers on the bay about products I'm not 100 % sure how I go about connecting an aux input.

I've thought about buying a 3.5mm stereo jack chasis with the 3 points on the back and connecting 3 wires into the block at the back of the head unit but once it's wired in the block does it matter with wire connects to where on the stereo jack??

Also looked into buying a unit that has the block connector with the aux lead already connected but can't seem to find one that actually works with the stream unit and doesn't cost 30 quid. Any help appreciated

Aux won't work with a stream unless it a stream mp3 mate

Go on ebay and write skoda aux and search that might be from an internatinal seller I checked a few days ago for someone else with no luck

So even if I go down the route of buying a stereo jack chasis and 3 cables it won't work? Thanks for the link gonna have to try that method if it can't be done with the stereo jack chasis. Literally just been to maplins this afternoon and got all the little bits to do it with. Thanks for the help

Yes it will but u will need the chop the cd changer input and connect the leads

Is it just a case of putting the 3 wires in the cd changer plug then wiring up the stereo jack

Yes as long as you get them into the stereo jack the correct way

And the 3 wires just go in the 3 empty slots on the c changer plug?

Yes. Pin slots 1, 2 and 7. Earth is pin slot 2.

Thinking about it as you have a Stream not a Stream MP3, it may not be as simple as this. You are probably going to have to replace the cdc wires at pin slots 2, 8 and 9 with your three wires, and lose the changer function. Here is the diagram:

I would check your headunit that the wiring diagram matches.

Or better still create a switch for the two options and keep the changer.

Thanks for the extra information, it's not a drama losing the cd changer as it's never worked in 2 years of owning the car and all my music is on my phone. Will have to have a good look at the back of the stereo and play about between the different wire positions. Would do it today but already changed 3 parking sensors on the front with out taking the bumper off [emoji2]

Sorry but I'm sure you are unable to have aux on a stream headunit without using a connect 2

I'm sure you have to upgrade to a stream mp3 to get aux function which I did mention before

That's why I've started this thread to try and get a definitive answer on how to do it and if it can be done. I've already got the bits from maplins so will try and fit the stereo jack and see if it works. If not I will have to buy a connect 2. Thanks for the helpful replies

Id personally consider picking up a 2nd han Amundsen or Amundsen +. Both good navs, the + particularly so.

They come with a built in Aux in; also if you get the right variant of Amundsen+ they are also OEM DAB+ and Bluetooth capable too.

I loved the one in my Mk2 Octavia...in some respects betters the infotainment in the Mk3 Octavia.

Tried wiring in a stereo jack but i can't seem to do it. Tried the 2 different pin locations stated above but the head unit just says no cd changer. Even tried removing all cd changer wires from the connector bit it still thinks there's a cd changer fitted. Any more advice or do I need a connects 2 after all??

If you replace pins 2 8 and 9 it will still say cd changer but the sound should could from the aux source. It will need cd changer selected to work.

I will have another play with it another day, when I wired it up using 2,8,9 I pressed cd and it said no cd for each part on the changer but wouldn't play any sound? Tried removing all the other wires in the connector and just keeping the aux leads in and still nothing

Thanks for finding that I will have to have a go using that method. Hopefully it works

No problem.  It sounds a bit like what you have already tried though (ie to pins 2, 8 and 9 without the switch)?

Do you think it will work if I use the cd changer earth on pin 3 rather than using pin 2 as the earth?

Does it need a switch if I'm not bothered about having the cdc working as well as an aux input? Since I've had the car the cdc has never worked even though it has power going to it, could this be a factor in the aux not working?

No you don't need a switch but a problem with the cd changer might be an issue. Its pin 2 not 3 isnt it for the cd changer earth on the older stream?

Double post sorry.

Pin 2 is aux earth and pin 3 is labelled as cdc audio earth.
