Selling my Octavia?

Featured Replies

We are buying a new Octavia end of March and I have had the current car on Autotrader, Ebay, Exchange & Mart without any interest.  It's a great car, I've got good pictures on.  Anybody any suggestions, because the trade-in price with Skoda is garbage.  Maybe it's the wrong time of year?  2007 elegance estate auto dsg.

Join freedom and advertise it on here? ;-)

Yet more money when I've spent loads on Ebay, Autotrader etc. :-)  Didn't actually realize I could advertise on here.

We'll have a whip round to see if we can raise the £4 that you'd need for Freedom Market or £12 for full Freedom.

I think people often forget how much cheaper it is on here. ;-)

Is it only £4 - thought it was £12.  I'll take a look.  would seem to be a good place to advertise!!

I can only find £12?

OK, I found the £4 Freedom pass, but can't get past the Billing information.  It just stays on that page.  Who do I contact?

Look under Shop/Briskoda Shop and you should see both options.

Cross posted.

Look like you're active now?

John, yes thanks for the help.  I wouldn't have found that option without you.  Hope it brings some interest!

What about contacting local mini cab firms, a lot seem to like the octy.

Still not any contact from anywhere that I have advertised.  I must say I am a bit surprised and more than a little disappointed.

Just a couple of pointers about your advert on here.

You haven't include any information about mileage, MOT, service history, general condition, what the spec is (any options?), any faults, major work carried out etc etc.

Phil

Have you tried webuyanycar.com and trustedcarbuyers.com to see what they would offer for your car? That would give you an indication of whether or not your asking price is way too high. Your car will sell - but at the right price for a buyer.

As Phil above has intimated, your ad lacks detail which is needed to inform and attract interest. My recent auccessful ad below is at the other end of the scale - I almost ran out of information to add!

As above, loads more detail you could be adding to help people decide if it's worth looking at. Loads and loads of pictures are a help, and to be honest the ones you've taken are average at best. Get some decent pictures taken (take loads and look at them on a computer to choose the best ones, not on a crappy phone screen), of the interior, dash, centre console, switches, engine bay, seats, wheels & tyres, and bodywork from all angles. People will look and be able to tell much more about the condition that you can describe. List the tyre tread depth, make etc. so it shows you've done some work to try and sell it. It won't sell itself unfortunately, and you need to make your advert stand out above the rest.

OK, the mileage IS there - in the title?  I will add some extras.  The photos were not taken with a "crappy phone" - but with a camera!  Guess we are not very good!  Thank you for the comments though.  We will get some more pics, hopefully better than these.

I didn't suggest they were taken with a crappy phone. I said look at them on a computer screen to choose the best ones, not on a crappy phone screen. If you took them with a camera then you should be getting better quality than the ones you've got there really. Two are no good at all, and two are fair.

Just being constructive, not accusatory. Pictures will sell the car initially far better than anything else. You gotta catch the sellers attention straight away or they move on to the next one.

Yes point taken, more pictures required - will get them tomorrow in the sunshine.

That was an excellent ad!  Although it listed the front armrest/jumbo box twice.  Did you have a spare one that was included in the sale? :D

I put my 5 yr. old VRS Estate on the Autotrader at 10.30am on Thursday morning and sold it for full asking price at 11.15am.

The car was immaculate and 17 good quality photos showed it together with a full spec list.

The new owner collected it this morning and since agreeing sale I've had to beat people off there was that much interest.

You've got to make your car stand out.

I've been on autotrader for 2 weeks with one phone call, so have added lots more pics and see what happens.

If there is no interest you will need to reduce the price until there is.
