Jay's Fabia Monte Carlo

Been thinking of starting one of these threads for a while. Although i don't class my car as a "project" I've done a fair amount to it now, and I'm always being asked questions regarding stuff I've done so i thought id make this thread with everything so its all in one place and easier for people to find, and then i can just link them to this.

(Also, I'm using the threads i have already made and I'm just taking all of the stuff in that and posting it on this (if that makes sense)).

So here it goes.

This is my car in the Dealer before i brought it home:

And this is when i brought it home after id had my design put on the side:

And of course, The Briskoda stuff goes on!

The first things i don't to my Monte was to Paint the Drums and Callipers:

When doing this, i went to halfords to buy myself a proper jack, as i would not recommend using the jack skoda supply in the boot, i just don't think its safe enough to hold the car up for a long duration.

The Paint i used was just off of eBay: Something like this;

 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FERRARI-RED-BRAKE-CALIPER-PAINT-METAL-STEEL-ENGINE-High-Temperature-125ml-Tin-/361222703434?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item541a8d094a

Although 125ml does not sound a lot, i used that on the front callipers and i had loads left, after doing about 3 coats on either side.

This is before i went to get the new jack..

After doing the callipers and drums i went onto doing the lights and bulbs etc etc.

First i done the interior lights:

20131107_151338_zpsd05e8357.jpg

And then i went onto the Number plate lights:

(Left is old, Right is new): got these bulbs from halfords.

20131025_191757_zpsdnou1ox7.jpg

Then i went on to the DRL's (Which is the most common question i get asked.

These are what i have:

Also, I put Wind Deflectors on: i didn't buy these but they are the same:

I then went onto fitting LOADS of Leds in the interior.. which some people like, and some people don't. personal preference.

I mainly done it for the experience of doing it, and to say i had done it.

The LEDs are powered by the car battery and onto a remote, which also has a inline fuse. Which will also tie into my under car Leds.

When you open the doors at night this is what you see-

These are the Puddle lights, the kit comes with the drill piece as well:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281227078169?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649&clk_rvr_id=784949017667&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true

This is how they are fitted:

This is where the light is located-

DSC_0016_zpsdb058cfa.jpg

i then brought the wire up and through the bottom rubber, made a hole.

DSC_0018_zpsa61ab413.jpg

looped it round the wires already there-

DSC_0015_zpsd8a82c2d.jpg

Went through the other end here (of the door)-

DSC_0020_zps22a30fc6.jpg

brought out of the door here, and into the car through the existing rubber again just made a small tight hole-

DSC_0021_zpsaa48df7a.jpg

Came into the car next to the bonnet release-

Fed up through the side of the glovebox-

Up the pillar-

Along the top-

DSC_0027_zpsfce31133.jpg

and then into the wires- in which i soldered it onto the actual board of the interior light-

DSC_0028_zps21a7d7e9.jpg

They are easy to fit, depends how confident you are with soldering etc etc.

I've added these to the boot lid liner-

i would recommend buying something like this as well, so good to use! (wire strippers)

I then went on to having a universal exhaust fitted, which i done in two stages. The first was this:

2014-07-12161751_zps1db6544c.jpg

2014-07-12143108_zpsbd8a417d.jpg

I just had it fitted, so it sat under the bumper. sounded okay, it does drown. but that is due to it being universal.

A little video of it:

I then went on to having the centre silencer removed, and having the bumper cut and the exhaust raised.

And a Video:

My Under car LEDs and boost Gauge;

When fitting the Boost gauge to the 1.2Tsi you will need a Forge adaptor, for the vacuum hose to go onto which is £40 from forge.

Now onto the under car Leds;

These are what i used: http://www.ebay.co.u...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

The Specification of the LEDs are

2 x 48" (120cm) Neon LED strips ( 72 LED )

2 x 36" (90cm) Neon LED strips ( 54 LED )

and the cable is about 250cm, on all 4.

2014-08-31134203_zps7932dc81.jpg

i also put the negative for both the under car leds and the interior onto the spare point in the ground cable on the battery-

2014-08-31134206_zps89ab0aba.jpg

Inline fuse-

2014-08-31134211_zps88ad872f.jpg

The Passenger lights and the front strips i have brought the cables up and through the arch liners and into the engine bay, also if you see the big red cable cover, this is where i have hidden the majority of the wires, as there is quite a lot left over from the one in the engine bay, and power cables etc. -

2014-08-31134217_zps13207d83.jpg

And the same with the other side-

2014-08-31134227_zpsc507cbb4.jpg

also when doing this i have hidden most of the cables in the red tubing i have all other the engine bay.

i brought the drivers side wire over the front of the top of the grille and i have mounted the box there with a cable tie-

2014-08-31134240_zps54c9066b.jpg

This is where i have put the under car lights, there is a gap just big enough for them on the underside on the under panel? i can't remember the name of it. i used double sided tape (3M) and i used cable ties at regular intervals. 2014-08-31145054_zps37ec5047.jpg

This is where it goes up and into the arch liner and into the engine bay-

2014-08-31145107_zpsfb85b09e.jpg

i put this one in the engine bay due to not being able to get in onto the rear bumper because i have had the exhaust cut in and it is to big to go on and would look silly. the way I'm going to get around this is by just using red strips that i can cut and ill put them around the bumper and put them onto the wiring with the LEDs atm with a switch.

2014-08-31145117_zpse14a6e7c.jpg

The outcome-

2014-08-30194012_zpsc42660b0.jpg

2014-08-30194056_zpsb0d78ca5.jpg

2014-08-28232153_zps4eca6bd4.jpg

2014-08-28232151_zpsfd14d88a.jpg

2014-08-28232149_zps2c00a944.jpg

2014-08-28232147_zps9191a7b8.jpg

2014-08-28232145_zps7fd8aade.jpg

2014-08-28232111_zps6f85ff81.jpg

2014-08-28232105_zpsce1fdfde.jpg

After fitting these, i Put led strips in the grills and the bonnet (underside)

2014-10-09184138_zps5da403b7.jpg

2014-10-09184044_zpsa41d278d.jpg

These ones run off of the same power source and fuse, but they go onto a switch inside the car, which also when the switch is on gives power to the under car ones.

I did at one stage have coilovers, and i loved it! but i had to take them of for insurance reasons. but i put the photos and stuff up anyway.

But i have taken them off and I'm now on 40mm Springs.

These coilovers are FK Streets (i believe)

The coilovers were not the best in the world, due to being cheap. if you just want the "low" look then yeah they are worth it. but otherwise spend the money and get a decent set that the ride will be good. these did handle really well though!  great round corners!

I decided to make the engine bay look 'Pretty' so i added some red hoses, just little covers that go over your existing hoses. i believe they were about £12 from eBay or something, not expensive.

2014-10-25%2017.11.35_zpsgbs18qqo.jpg

Ignore the painted engine covers, the paint i used was not right and the heat has just ruined it. i need to have the professionally done.

This photo is to show the Air filter i have, this again is from halfords... just purely for the sound. i like the let of noise it makes, which you can hear in the videos above of my exhaust. when i put this on i also took the little restrictor out of the induction hose. to make it a little louder and to allow more airflow.

I will eventually buy the Forge induction kit which will replace the hose with a red silicone one and i will also buy the forge blow of valve.

My next Biggest thing was the Remap, i had it Revo'd Stage 1! At Auto Specialist in Essex. My god it was worth it. It cost me £350 due to it being a christmas sale. And has put me from 86Bhp to 132Bhp at the wheels! and the Torque figure is at 165lb. The gain is amazing. It is defiantly worth doing and most certainly worth the money.

Only problem is, with Revo... they use a bluefin and tweak the map. which means that if your battery is disconnected then you lose the stage one part of the map. But they will put this back on for free if it was to happen.

My turbo is producing around 12Psi after this remap.

Nice project thread Jay, you're not shy to try things out so hats off to you even if it's not all to my liking but well done.

Not always to everyone's taste, I just thought I'd try things and see how it goes. Everything I've done can be put back to standard.. But thank you mate, just thought I'd make a thread and see what happened

I feel like I've been transported back to the late 90's. I massively dislike it, but it's your car! Good effort on some of the mods, must have taken some time.

Thank you, like I've said its personal preference, some people don't like it some people do.. It's good to be honest, yeah I've put a lot of time in to everything I've done!
