Fabia 2 1.6TDI Induction/Cone Filter

Featured Replies

Has anyone done anything in terms of Cone/Induction kits on their 1.6tdi? thinking I might fit something just wondered if anyone else has too

I know that the various kit suppliers make euphoric claims as to the performance changes of cone/induction kits.

Frankly, you would have to increase the fueling settings for the TDI ( done professionally of course via the ecu by someone that really knows his craft) in conjunction with an alternative setup to get a very small marginal performance increase.

That said, the existing induction setup is fully able to cope, it does have a certain amount of 'reserve'.

Unless you are making big time changes - dont consider it !

Yeah whats wrong with that?

According to my VERY limited knowledge on this subject the only power gains you are going to see from a cone filter is when you upgrade the exhaust and the ecu as well. More air in means you need to get it out again quicker. I think......

Im not here to discuss the benefits or not its just a question as to if people have already done it

My exhaust is done already and i am going to get it remapped soon but i want all the mechanical stuff done first

In my case, no

Had the map but felt any extra noise would just sound ridiculous, especially on a diesel

Good luck in your quest for MAX POWAH though

Not that i want the gains in oower really but wont hurt as a support mod and my exhaust sounds surprisingly good so i am going to add one :)

No cone or induction kit just a k&n replacement for the standard filter as for noise hard to tell

In fact no change at all

Sorry but there is no way it will give any decent noise. Not on a diesel. If you wanted a sporty sound-track the TSI car would have been a better option.

You are also unlikely to see any upgrade in power either. There is a risk it will actually make less power than stock too.

Have you checked to make sure it's not blowing?

Must be a different 1.6 CR Tdi to mine

Wasting your time trying to get a decent noise from the induction area of a derv.

You're better off spending the cash else where.

You got a video of this? I'm interested to hear what it sounds like because mines so loud being a diesel even as standard!

Here's a polo

From what I gather it's completly standard

Another dpf and center box gone

As people are saying, Induction kits on diesels don't give you the same deep induction sound as a petrol does, Diesels don't have Throttle butterfly's, All you will here is more Diesel clatter.

If you want a nice induction sound then this is what a VWR Intake sounds like on a 2.0tdi

And this is what the APR intake sounds like on a 1.6tdi, watch to the end and you'll see what it looks like.

My friend who has the old mk1 1.9 vrs took a cone filter off of a Honda civic and that sounds cool and doesn't afftect anything wondering if it would work on your car I can get pictures if you want some
