Help - Twindoor wiring - Intermittent issues

Featured Replies

Good Evening,

I have a 2010 Superb twindoor elegance dsg

I have an intermittent issue with the boot mechanism. it intermittently works.  Then main fault is when closing in hatchback mode the motor does close the lid.  I have replaced the motor mechanism so that is fine.  I would appear to have an issue somewhere (i am guessing around the hatchback closure and the roof lining with a wire or 2)

Before tearing the car apart - literately I was wondering if someone could help with some or all of the following:

Where is the ECU that controls the boot closure (is this under the front windscreen?)

Does anyone have have a copy of the wiring diagram (with ECU pin numbers) so I can test the individual continuity of the wires?

Are there any joins in the wiring loom that can easily be replaced?

Anyone done this before?

Many thanks for looking and hopefully answering my call for help

Cheers

Tim

More than likely its the loom in the hatch, well documented on here and relatively east to repair. But before that, do you mean the main latch on the small lid is not closing all the way or the hatch motors are not closing?

My fault was every time I engaged reverse gear the boot opened. This is on a 58 plate. It started off as intermittent but became permanent before Christmas. I thought about how I parked wherever I went so I never had to reverse out of a spot!

I stripped the boot down and inspected the loom. There is a link on the forum here for twindoor wiring fix.

all the cables had split insulation, one of the cables had 1 strand of copper making the link and 2 cables were snapped through.

I reconnected the broken cables and applied lots of gaffer tape to the wires and the fault has gone away.

Its a fiddly job but not impossible.
