Cruise Control issue

Featured Replies

Hello

Since I bought my Octavia II 2008 L&K 1 year ago Curise control never worked for me

Yesterday I thought to give it a try to fix it . I read somewhere is this forum to clean the switch . So I gave it a try . After messing around for an hour and a half I got the stick . I cleaned it and put it back on but that does not fix the issue . Curise control is still not working for me . I have the VCDS I tested many time but there  are no errors with steering wheel control . What could be the issue .

It could be the brake light switch, seems to be a common fault, try searching on here for it.

Does that means if I have faulty brake light switch that means when I hit the brake there will be no brake lights ?

The cruise control stalk plugs into the steering controller so if you errors relating to the steering controller that's probably the cause.

What are the fault codes exactly?

Sorry I typed it incorrectly instead of "no errors" I typed "so errors" . There are no fault associated with steering controller .

Can you see the cruise switch position with VCDS?

How can I check that , I am new to VCDS . Please guide me how can I check that

Measuring blocks is the place to look. Go into the steering controller.

Ok , Here is an update about this

I used Ross-tech wiki to read the data .

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Checking_Cruise_Control_using_Measuring_Values

Field 2 data was correct which basically contains the steering wheel module information. Like Cruise control off/on . Acc/Reset button etc. So I am sure there is nothing wrong in steering wing controller or in Cruise control stick.

Field 4 data basically contains the Paddle data. Brake switch and other data was working fine but there was an issue with Clutch paddle . It was always showing 1 . Where it means 1=Clutch depressed .

So I though it was faulty clutch paddle cylinder which contains the switch or you can the sensor (in older model I guess both the clutch cylinder and the switch which contains the Sensor are different )

I got the hand on the new one thanks to my friend who have it in the spare . It looks like this

I did not change the whole assembly what I did is only remove the coupler that connects to the switch from the engine side (that was hard to remove because it was hidden behind the engine and it was mounted on frame just in front of clutch paddle ). I put the new in that coupler . Connected the VCDS and then press and depress it but still the data did not changed it was still showing 1=Clutch depressed .

What seems to be the issue now ?

Do I have to install the clutch cylinder and with the fluids to check that or it has some wiring malfunction ?

If the car thinks your clutch is depressed Cruise will never work... mine will disengage on gear change (clutched depressed) or Braking... so if your car thinks the clutch is depressed even slightly cruise will not work.. I would def work on getting that sorted..

I know Dread but I do not understand what is the issue VCDS showing that Clutch is depressed , though it is not . I also changed the whole assembley but it is still not working . Is there anything else I am missing ?

Now I am wondering what would be the other effects except cruise control if the car thinks clutch is depressed .

Could be a wiring fault.

Does the trip computer/maxidot show the fuel consumption?
