not the most exiting of updates but thought id post a few pics of the old and new plates, little touches make a nice difference   before   after   old vs new

But firstly it will be getting an oversized tip and decat downpipe pkus mapped by gt motorsport.

bit more of an update for you guys, i have bought a meter length of silicone vacuum hose to replace the old worn oe stuff and also ordered a forge breather hose kit to yet again replace the old oe stuff. i am also going to order a silicone boost hose kit and of course the sfs oversized tip which when all fitted should eliminate any leaks what are potentially coming from those areas.

cool, will the car need re-mapping once the sfs over sized tip is installed?

By the way I'm curious as to which skoda badges are going on (new style or original)!

It will be fine with just the oversized tip but it will be getting that and the decat downpipe plus a remap done on the same day. Ill replace the other hoses and dv beforehand.

Going for the newer style badges think it will blend in well with the car being black

I prefer the old style badges as they stand out more against black but each to their own. Yea it will be fine with the tip on just might be a little bit laggy with there being more air available

thats the beauty of the car world and in fact any aspect of our lives, each to there own :) i totally agree that the originals stand out more and dont get me wrong they look good but i just prefer a little more stealthy look and hopefully it blends in well.

with regards to the tip it shouldnt really cause a problem as my plan is to fit that and the decat downpipe the same morning as it gets remapped :)

yesterday i received my uprated forge 007p recirc valve got this for a very good price just waiting on my length of vacuum hose to arrive then i will get it fitted

on friday evening i gave the 007p a good check over then cleaned out and regreased all the required bits works like new now and is something i shall do every year to keep it in top shape.

yesterday my new breather hoses and vacuum hose arrived im going out to fit the 007p and vacuum hose and also the smaller breather hose, going to fit the bigger one when i receive the new oe plastic breather pipe which i understand is prone to breaking when changing the hoses.

i have also got a 2 piece n75 boost hose kit from creation motorsport which will be with me next week so ill be fitting that next weekend :)

i am waiting on a plastic t piece to arrive then i am going to do the n249 bypass should take me all of 10 mins

so as said i carried out the n249 bypass such an easy job really doesnt take long at all and costs a total of about £4

i cant report on how it is yet as when fitting the top breather hose i fount the pipe that was causing the engine management to be on, the lower breather/pcv hose had been taped up onto the top one and had a huge hole in it totally perished, i then follow the pipe down to the bottom and to my horror it was totally split to where it fits and was hanging on by a thread

as it was obviously not even remotely doing its job i removed it, well in fact it just dropped off when i moved the pipe as you can see totally shot and the bit of bottom half that fits onto t piece is still on there.

so the search is now on to see if GSF or TPS are open today? i know my local a2z motor spares will be open but unsure if they stock the hose and am sure eurocar parts do not stock it either.

i actually spoke to my local skoda dealer last night they are open today but parts section is not :(

well i managed to to a temporary fix on the breather hose with a piece of garden hose, so i have now ordered a silicone lower breather/pcv hose as this should eliminate any future problems from that area, so i will be fitting this with the other lower silicone breather hose i have

new pcv hose

i have also ordered a new breather hose pipe as i have been informed that they break down/split/leak boost over time so may as well put a new one in whilst working on the bottom part of the engine breather system

the pipe in question

pipe_zpszru1igbq.png

all slots in nicely :D, are you going to clean up the engine bay and paint other pipework blue to match?

  • Author

im going to give it a bit of a clean up nothing major though just a degrease etc, most of the engine is hidden once the cover is back on just wanna make sure whats under there is going to be reliable :)

little bit of an update received my new front and rear bosch aero wipers so fitted them yesterday much better looks wise and certainly perform better than the ones they replaced.

my n75 and lower dv silicone hoses and the 3 breather hoses/pipe will be here today but i have not got the car all weekend as the wife is doing 2 12 hour shifts so iv booked next friday off work and am heading down to my other mates garage retro motorsport in stoke to get them fitted just in time for us to give the car a nice little run to donington park on the sunday for the btcc :)

i will be ordering an sfs oversized tip at the end of this month and get it fitted before we head off to the lakes on the 20th may

i have also ordered a silicone turbo outlet pipe from the same company

top1_zpsrkqzznur.png

iv made an offer on an sfs oversized tip should here back from them today if its accepted then i think it makes sense to fit this the same time as the turbo outlet pipe

today iv decided to drop the wife off at work so i can have the car and give it a good clean going to be using cg blacklight and poorboys nattys blue wax to top it off i will of course post a few pics after

  • Author

right guys as always plans dont always work out, i wasnt able to have yesterday off work so im instead off next weds :) this will actually allow us to fit the turbo outlet hose at same time as the others, sfs oversized tip still not arrived yet but am in no hurry for that tbh.

taking the car for a nice little drive to donington park tomorrow for the bttc :) ill only be driving one way as ill be sampling many beers whilst there haha

You'll be tearing up the roads in the lakes soon :) love the blind corners and unexpected dips and turns, feels like a roller coaster ride.

Fitting oversized sfs tip along with silicone turbo outlet hose n75/dv hoses and breather hoses today.

Next up will be pancake hose revised oe lower boost hose and intercooler to tb hose.

Follwed by 3" decat downpipe and remap not a bad little plan

Personally I wouldn't go with decat I would go with a sports cat as a decat is too loud I have a 3 inch custom exhaust straight pipe and it's loud will get a vid for you

Hi mate cheers for that im not fitting an aftermarket system on my car so the noise shouldnt be an issue for us.

nothing at all to report on the car front the above mentioned hoses were fitted, i purchased a silicone pancake hose and will be fitting that next weds.

still to purchase the decat downpipe and revised lower boost hose hopefully will get them next month as were off to the lakes this coming weekend for a little break and have quite a few things to get bought for the new house

Hi everyone been a hectic last few weeks for me and the wife.

Anyway onto the car im still yet to purchase a revises lower boost hose and decat downpipe but rest assured this will be done in good time.

I have yesterday bought a set of uniroyal rainsport 3 tyres for the car and these will be fitted next saturday morning.

The car has developed a sort of sqeaky/rattly noise coming from the front end at low speed/revs we were thinking maybe worn bushes dogbone etc but when i finally got to drive the car i dipped the clutch whilst the noise was there and the noise intanstly stopped. So im not sure if it needs a new clutch or flywheel? Any help on this much appreciated.

My plan is to sort whatever the above problem is but regardless i have decided to refresh the front end bushes on the car for powerflex ones these will be dogbone front and rear, front wishbone and top mounts. The bushes on our car could have very possibly done 147k so id say are pretty worn.

I am also going to be changing the springs and dampers for h&r 20mm springs and koni dampers this matched to the new rubber and new bushes should make the car a little better on the handling front.

Bushes dont rattle, more bang but I uprated my dogbone couple weeks ago and its well worth doing, you get vibrations through the floor but its worth it. Sounds like your flywheels gone, does it rattle at idle? Check all ya shields and hard pipe clamps around the engine although if they were making noise it would be very tiney. I have a 3" decat I bought but now dont want, has a 2.5" drop with it but needs welding back on if ya interested.
