not the most exiting of updates but thought id post a few pics of the old and new plates, little touches make a nice difference   before   after   old vs new

Much cheaper to do the g60 vr6 setup for flywheel n clutch which is what I got n the powerflex dogbone is around £29 and so easy to fit were ecs one is £90 odd!

  • Author

Cheers for that ken decided stay with oe clutch n flywheel as it will be more than adequate for what we need managed to pick up a borg and beck flywheel and clutch for £165

Also taken your advice on the powerflex dogbone bushes and getting a pair of them this week.

Got quite a boost leak on the motor atm not sure where its coming from but i have read the lower boost hose was a common fault and as far as i can see or find out it has never been replaced for the later revised hose. I have purchased a vgc second hand revised hose and will get it fitted asap. Hopefully this will resolve the issue if not then it will be a case of finding and fixing the leak.

The rainsport 3 tyres have made such a big diiference to the car money really well spent i also purchased an audi tt front upper strut brace and that will go on tuesday along with the new flywheel and clutch.

Next month we are gong to replace the rear springs and shocks and top mounts and the following month the same for the front suspension keeping it all oe as i want to keep thr car as practical and comfy as possible im sure a suspension refresh along with new bushes combined with the strut brace should keep things nice and tight etc.

Couple of questions is it worth getting the audi tt lower front brace? And what rear anti roll bar is best to get? Are there any from the vw group that can be fitted with good results?

I found the lower brace made more of difference than the upper one, if your FARB is standard the Whiteline will be fine for the back. If you have bigger plans, on the front R32 or Neuspeed 25mm, on the rear 28mm Neuspeed.

Hi andy thaks for the reply matey i will certainly do the front lower brace as wel then and i now know to go for the whiteline rarb

When fitting the front upper brace did you need any nuts/bolts etc if so what sizes were they fella

I used M10x 30 and nyloc nuts, some peeps have used M8's.

Thanks for that andy

Think i have solved the boost leak the forge service kit turned up yesterday so i removed the 007p and replaced the 3 o rings and the valve which seems to be a revised version with an o ring sitting at the bottom of it as well.

When i removed the 007p i tried the simple test to see how much the body dropped and it virtually dropped all the way down after i had serviced it id say it drops no more than a few mm so defo an improvement.

the wife reports that it is much better now, i have yet to drive the car but will be doing so on saturday

Sorry for the delay in updates guys

Right onto the boost leak i got to drive the car and boost is absolutely peeing out so i have ordered the revised lower boost hose and i had a dig around under the bay and low and behold i find one of the aftermarket creation boost hoses that was fitted by gt motorsport is not fitted correctly and in fact the jubilee clip was not even attached to the end that meets the charge pipe. I had a go of getting it back on straight and tightening the clip back up but the clip just keeps slipping off the hose. At this point my bloody glass back decided to kick in and i had to leave it as it was.

Anyway i have the car rebooked in with a skoda specialist in stoke named tqc they are going to fit the new clutch and flywheel along with sort the upper 90deg boost hose and fit the lower revised hose at same time fingers crossed this will solve the boost issue

Next month i will be ordering the audi tt lower front strut brace to fit along with the upper brace and uprated dogbone mount.

I have also priced up replacing the suspension with oe items and it comes to £421 so iv seen a full kit by koni sr-t that lowers 20mm all round that comes in at £358 that looks as if it will be the choice when the time comes to carry out the job.

Hairy spray would hold that hose.

Turns out the creation 90deg boost hose just was not a good fit at all and no matter what we did it just kept popping off so we refitted the oe hose and hey presto no more popping off and no more boost leak.

Whilst we were at it we also fitted a new set of rear brake pads as one side were quite worn down.

i fitted the creation hose using the oe hose clips which are like a ratchet type couldnt tighten enough with clip tool so small socket and a quarter drive came out the tool box been fine since got about an extra 7 or turns on it over the screw driver type tool   :) did have to replace the crank case breather elbow as was split though so no leaks at all pressure tested full system too  :)

Cheers for that dean i have decided to stick with the oe hose for now.

Dont suppose any of you know what size nuts and bolts are required to fit the audi tt lower front brace?

N 104 679 01 Bolts for lower brace

N 909 147 01 Captive nuts

2 of each, TPS if your local one sells to the public

Thanks for that andy last night i managed to source a lower brace complete with nuts and bolts via facebook for £20 delivered which i thought was not too bad at all

Update for anyone interested

Agu charge pipe and silicone agu pancake hose arrived and was planning on fitting it this friday, but whilst at work today i got a call from the wife saying the engine light had come on and car had lost power etc.

so told her to take it to ian at tqc who got the car in for us and it was diagnosed to have coil number 3 down so a new coil ordered and fitted along with the agu charge pipe and hose, cant report back on it yet as not picking the car up until tomorrow.

Right everyone we seem to have cured the missing boost now, but now the boost has returned it seems like it randomly flutters or dumps the booost at times which is very noticeable.

I was thinking this could be either the 007p valve which i recently serviced or the n75 valve? Any help would be much appreciate

dont do anything yet except take it on a long drive with the occasional boost blast, hour on a motorway should do it or a few days of normal driving as it needs to learn its ok again and loose the boost leak code from the ecu.

Or if you can get a vagcom or scanner to clear it that may be all it needs, good luck

Hi ken cheers for the reply fella i forgot to mention it had the 17705 code plus 2 other codes deleted when the work was done. My wife has a 30 mile per day commute mostly on dual carriageway so im sure we can check it that way and if no change then look into whats causing it.

The other code i got apart from the 17705 was 16795 which is the sai system incorrect flow detected, so iv decided to follow the sai removal guide on here and get it off.

Hopefully driving will work, when I fitted my turbo I had the codes reset and the car was horrible cutting boost and even going into limp mode but I was at a friends and by time I got home (about 20 miles) èasing the boost and then leaving it over night it was fine next day

Fingers crossed that will solve it matey, iv also been out first thing this morning and cleaned the throttle bodie which was defo in need of doing especially on the inside.

Well being a decorator sometimes has its perks, got speaking to ian at tqc last night and they need there reception and hallway area repainting so i struck a deal with him which is as follows.

He supplies and fits 3" decat downpipe and then remaps the car which he agreed to so i get the work on my car done and not costs me a penny and he gets his place spruced up win win i say.

  • Author

Off to start the job this morning, taking the upper ans lower front braces with me as they are going to be fitted also whilst im there, we are starting to get there slowly but surely

  • Author

Well today is the day the car will be getting the remap and downpipe done so really looking forward to how it turns out of course ill report back with how it is etc.

I only have 3 doors left to varnish so iv said id have no probs getting the upper and lower braces fitted if hes ok with that.
