Very brave considering they are suppose to be done every 40k. Ive got a 58 2.0 140 mk2 DSG on my fleet, flywheels rattling it's pan in but don't wanna spend anything on it as I bought over it and it's coming off the road next month

Had flywheel done 225,000 had been rattling since 150,000 had look at it when picked car up.not that

Much play really think it would have been ok till end of plate.noise is amplified through engine,it's not

Driving any smoother with new flywheel just nice and quiet.not had much else to replace broke front

Spring on speed bump at 200,000 Mls cost £33.00 captive bolts on top mount snapped needed bearing

Cost more than spring! Still got original suspension ,rear arb snapped recently got one off vrs eBay £15.00

Very stiff rear now.Not long after got car fitted heavy duty rear springs.Find standard bit soft when carring

Full load. Not much to complain about, seats very uncomfortable when spending 12 hours working.Next

Time I will change drivers seat, maybe golf or aftermarket.

Been PH for 6 years, had a Tourneo, a Mondeo 130PS MK3 and a Chevrolet Epica (which has cost me the least to run in parts)

Plate £215 1st year......

Would love to buy a hack or as known in my area a general plate. According to some of the guys that work the same system but are general cars, they do an extra £100 a week. Plates currently cost 20/25k

Are there plates available?

I'm hanging on by my fingernails in my present job - just waiting on my dundy cheque - I like the flexibility of being a hansom driver. If I get my cheque I'll pay off my mortgage, so just looking for a job that'll provide beer and betting money.

Yeh general plates are changing hands, need to be right money tho, that's East Kilbride. You'd prob be able to get a car & play for bout £25000, granted it'll be an old shed but it would get you started!

Glasgow hacks, car & plate your talking £30000

I am a bit of a maverick in that i havent been a base budgie for 20 years, for the last 6 ive been my own man, i have had my own school contracts, a year ago i decided to try base work again, renting a Mercury PDA

Base rent cars out (just add fuel) at £320 a WEEK, or PDA's full time £150 a week or £30/12 hours but i get away with £20 for 9 hours

Just noticed this section, hello lads.

Hackney plated for County Durham, but mainly work off the main hack rank in a town called Peterlee and the surrounding villages.

Just retired my 9yr old octavia, and replaced it with a 14 plate rapid spaceback.

4th skoda I've had as a taxi now, and never even contemplated anything else when I was looking for a new one.

Not taxiing now but south Tyneside was my patch. had a fair few different cars in my time and used to rent them out. I did have an Octavia mk 1 4x4 turbo on with a hackney plate for around 6 months, felt that the fuel bills would be lower than the ford dealers repair bills on a death rattle Mondeo tdci I used to have. it was Caledonian Blue and was an ex Strathclyde plain wrapper police car. Got a print out from them and they got rid at 40k . **** hot on the road and wouldn't slide like an audi a4 Quattro I used to have on. Those were the days !!!

Just noticed this wee section!

I've been a private hire driver in Barrhead (near Glasgow) for just over 3 months. Initially rented a mk2 Octavia DSG up until last week when I finally got the licence and plates on my mk3 Octavia SE.

Had quite a few passengers comment on how nice the car is, and must admit it looks the part! Not really impressed with the 44.8 mpg i'm supposedly getting though....
