EGR delete / error

Featured Replies

Ive put in a darkside delete, and after reading some stuff thought the year of my car would be ok, seems not i have this error code:

VCDS-Lite Version: Release 1.2
Monday, 23 March 2015, 17:05:33.
Control Module Part Number: 038 906 019 LA
  Component and/or Version: 1,9l R4 EDC 0000SG  4904
           Software Coding: 00102
            Work Shop Code: WSC 13765
                      VCID: 61B52687F851
           Additional Info: TMBWU46Y043917575     SKZ7Z0C2110458
1 Fault Found:
17552 -  Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Open or Short to Ground
        P1144 - 35-00 -   -

Is this due to the EGR delete?

Do i require a Remap?

Oh and car is in limp mode, when i delete this code it instantly comes back...

Pretty sure this wont be to do with the egr delete. However 9 times out of 10 it will bring up the eml.

To solve the problem you've got try taking the maf sensor out (sensor in pipe just after air filter) and give it a clean with some electrical contact cleaner. It may not help but that's the first thing I'd try

Hope that helps

im going to unplug it, then clear the code .. hope it stays off and cars out of limp mode... not sure..

Its the limp mode i need to get out of, then test the MAF ... i need to use the car, but not sure if unplugged MAF make the car go limp, i didnt think it did ?

Egr needs mapping out if you have aaz or blt engine.

I have a ASZ 53 plate, shouldnt need a map im thinking

BTW i dont care if it brings up a dash light, but im fairly certain it shouldnt case limp mode.

I think Richard-vrs meant to write ASZ or BLT.

I also think a warning light will come up whichever of these engines you have, but you may be correct that on ASZ, if you can put up with the light (and read fault codes regularly in case this masks something you really should be fixing), everything else should be OK (except your poisonous NOx emissions of course).

Ok

I live near many distribution warehouses, with 20+ large articulated lorry's passing every hour, i doubt my little fabia will be the straw that put a hole in the ozone, as soon as China, USA, and most of European industries start to conform to the recommend levels of pollution levels, i might start to feel guilty.. but when most of the multi nationals are pumping out shed loads of crap, i will sir have a cleaner low maintain EGR solution :)

Anyways back on topic,

Ive just pulled the MAF, cleared the code while on ignition, start the car and it goes straight into limp mode ... i dont understand whats causing this!! removing the MAF/ any maf issues shouldnt cause limp mode

Yes my fat fingers miss typed. I think on the asz you are correct, so long as the now unused vac lines are blocked up, it only shows the error light on dash.

Just a bit of a coincidence to pop up after you fitted egr delete.

TBH i did clean the MAF, with electrical cleaner and applied electrical silicon grease to the connections. Im wondering if i cleaned it too well ... But i still dont understand why this would put it in limp mode?

I thought that if the MAF is pulled out, it runs rich and bumpy but doesn't go into limp mode ...

Its the limp mode thats making me wonder is there more to this than a faulty MAF.

Ye ive blocked the lines, and btw i dont have a dash light, but the cars running in limp mode, and not run much since battery has been re connected. The dash light might come in time :P

I havent known limp mode to kick without an error light, it might just be running crap because its not picking up the maf readings.

Is the turbo kicking in at all?

  • Author

Yes turbo kicks in 1st and 2nd gear, not driven requiring more in this state, it limits around 2000 revs in second, so its like limp mode. Its like its running with boost pipe blown, there is hardly any turbo power. Turbo is spinning normally tho...

If it wasnt for the MAF fault code i would be under the car checking boost pipes first!

Im not 100% but if turbo is kicking in its not limp mode.

I would say because the maf is not reading properly its limiting your fueling, and inturn limiting your boost.

See of you can log group 3 using vcds, this will tell you exactly what the maf is doing. I would double check the connector though after the cleaning.

i dont really know what to do with vcds, with the group 3 thing.. i only know how to check faults and clear lol

I will be double checking everything in the morning. But even if its as you said, unplugging should have made a difference and it didn't.

Ok been fannying about ...

seems I have a weirdo MAF wired up direct to the battery, i didn't know what these where until now :P shown in this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/347384-off-maf-connector/

I have attached direct to the battery, and no fault code, so MAF is fine, wiring however is not ... Will this drawn battery power constant? .. I am going to have to address this wiring at a latter date.

Also, it wasn't running in limp mode, it was in fact the usual boost pipe blow, 90degree at the bottom, i have DIY ed it recently, the plastic lugs in the inter cooler housing are worn and wont hold the new metal cuplings...i have put a self tapper in and its still blown on a angle from the top, i cant access the top to get a self tapper in there, so im going to double jublie clip it... any ideas on the size ??

Does your engine management light come on when you turn ignition on before starting engine?

Or has someone removed the bulb to hide the fault they could not sort out after bodging that wiring..............

The MAF fault you've put up above should put your EML light on,had same fault on mine and EML came on.

  • Author

Engine light on ignition as normal, no EML lights. Its been remapped by previous owner, so no idea what the map may have had done. But i did phone the mapping company, all they could tell me was its a map for predominately efficiency not power... i may give them another call, asking if anything specific was mapped out.
