Tony,

If you are planning to buy a manual I would suggest ElsaWin version 4.0 or later. You can buy a CD cheaply from eBay.

I have uploaded the relevant sections of the manual here for you:

If you look at the wiring removal instructions you will see that you need to carefully remove the cable terminals from the controller connector. It looks like there is a replacement cable assembly that you can buy, probably main stealer only.

I think that the part number might be:

6Q0927903B

If it is then there is one on eBay for £55.

Brill thanks - I'm going to have a play tomorrow first then see how far I get with the tips on here! I can't being myself to take even to local Indy as some if the stuff I've seen bodged must have been done by them since I've had var from new (and I still love it till I can save up for an Octavia lol)

:-)

My engine looks nowt like in the PDF

What I think is the plug described is rather unhelpful ly on other side behind air filter.

I thought that was the control module - silver thing with Bosch on front with two halves or two connectors down one side. Just looked at top one and it looks nowt like the pin diagrams ie the end pubs in different places so it's looking like a full day job of investigation !

:-)
