Hardship doesn't stop a ban. It's down to the judge at the time.

For the similar speed on an empty motorway I was banned for a month. Which for the speed I consider myself very lucky.

Don't bother with a lawyer waste of money. Be very sorry make sure you also look it.

You'd be surprised how many people go in looking very smug and think they will get away with it.

Most importantly until you get the letter in the post stop worrying about it, learn from it, keep you speed in check (we all do it sometimes).

Or ever committed any type of offence... Or more likely owned up on a forum. The OP has only made 20 or so posts, if he knew the attitude towards exceeding the limit by some of the contributors, I doubt that he would have put it up. It is less hassle to simply Google penalties etc.

OP hasn't said if licence is needed for job.

Some employers have clauses that bans or over 6 points (their insurers stipulation usually) means P45. Friend had 9 points and was OK until employer changed their business insurance which prevented anyone with 6+ points from driving company vehicles.

A nice spare set of number plates might be in order for you next speedy jaunt, might I suggest trawling the model.specific forums for a car which matches yours then hey presto no more fines/bans......

I don't buy the hardship rubbish at all. If you've reached the points limit, which is there to give you a fair chance to sort yourself out, you clearly aren't learning and should lose your license. Other modes of transport exist.

though if driving is your job you may end up suffering exceptional personal hardship, you may also put any completely innocent dependants into the same hardship which any decent solicitor will be able to exploit in court pretty much as many times as you speed, I know a gentleman who has got away with keeping his licence 3 times now. I personally kept mine with 15 points on quite a number of years ago using this plea. (I have never had another point since I might add)

Which is WHY you always wipe out your licence plate (or most of it) on photos when posting up on the web.

And if they let someone like that keep their license, they can put any number of innocent people into hardship through an inevitable accident. If your license is that important to you that your whole family is at risk of you losing it, then drive properly. I am not talking about people who have the odd lapse of concentration or common sense, but serial idiots like the gentleman you describe. I don't give two ****s about his hardships, thats on him. He has the power to prevent that. That he chooses not to, but instead is willing to put himself, his family and everyone else around him at risk is not something I can accept as right.

 

Also, as I keep saying, driving isn't the only way to get to places or get things that are needed.

I understand that the UK limit is 70mph and that there could be an accident due to excessive speed on the motorway or for that case at 35 mph in an urban area.. It's a good job we don't live in Germany with its stretches of unlimited Autobahns. We'd cause accidents by only doing 70mph with the UK's "nobody overtakes me" mentality. It's not purely speed that causes accidents, it's poor driving standards and failing to drive to the local road and weather conditions.

We all do stupid things sometimes, (even me and I'm perfect...LOL) but in the end we always get caught or found-out.

What I find funny is most people will frown upon you as if they have never been speeding before. Most of them will have and probably have done 100+ but just have not been caught.
