Park Assist ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Quick question:

Can you have front and rear parking sensors and not have p.a.?

Car in question is an 11 estate elegance.

Cheers, tom

Park assist was standard for Elegance spec 2011 Irish cars anyway. Mine has it. Have you a button for it beside the gear lever?

Yes you can. Front and back sensors were standard on elegance cars, but park assist (parking itself) was an option. The standard parking sensors have a button by the gear stick and park assist has a different button next to it.

Can you only use PA on the drivers side?

You can use on either side. Just indicate right if you wish to use right side.

Havent really played with mine yet, car only a few weeks old.

Probably useless but a bit of fun!

You can use it on either side by moving the indicator.

Beaten to the answer.

Only rear sensors were standard on the Elegance. ;)

PA was on my wanted list when looking for mine. More for the ability to have the front sensors but to be honest with a car the size of the LuxoBarge i actually use PA quite a bit when wanting to park around town. Means no more umming and ahhing about finding the right size space.

I used it properly for the first time the other day and it squeezed into a space I would've struggled to get into manually, as you just cant turn the wheel as fast as the motor can!  Really great. Probably will never use it again mind! :D

I've found the tighter the space the better it performs. If you get lazy and use it in a really large gap it tends to mess it up. I've had it get in a space that must have been on the limit of the required gap and it got in first time perfectly. When it came to getting out it actually took me two attempts as even with the front and rear sensors i had solid tone and didn't want to risk clipping my front bumper against the parked car in front!!!!

Exactly my experience with the gap I mentioned. It was a bu@@er to get out of too!

I found the manual online to read up on PA. Apparently you can use it to get out of a space too? Also, I didn't know you could use it to park in a bay - thought it was only parallel parking!

I agree. On my 12 plate elegance, only rear was standard, but the difference in upgrading to fronts or fronts with park assist was so small I went for park assist. I believe there are extra sensors right on the back edges of the bumper which aren't there with only parking sensors.

Only in FL Superb onwards where you have 3 modes for Park Assist - Parallel, Reversing into bay and getting out of parallel parking (if I'm right). Pre-FL Superb's have only parallel parking.

You get these modes in current gen Octavia too.

Yes bay parking became available on the FL model.

Yes with park assist you get four sensors on the rear bumper, four sensors on the front bumper and one on each side on the front wheel arch.

Cool, thanks. So what is 2010? Is that pre FL?
