Door Mirror, Easy To Remove?

Featured Replies

Here's the story...

Bismark parked at home a month or so ago, fairly strong winds, loose piece of mortar falls off the roof, catches Bismark on the drivers door.

Tiny dink in the paint but the door rubber that runs across the top of the door and under the mirror took the main impact, gouging a big bit of rubber out of the trim making it look horrid.

Pootled off to the stealer today who quoted me just under £18 for a new trim which I felt was reasonable but almost £50 for the labour to fit it!

It doesn't look like you can remove and refit the trim without taking the mirror off so, how much hassle is it to remove the door trim and ultimately the mirror?

If it's too much hassle I will swallow hard and let the stealer do it.

Thoughts please. :)

what you have to think about and factor in doing it yourself, is if you broke/damaged a piece of trim in doing it, then you would be looking at more outlay, whereas if you paid their labour charge, sit down with a cup of their free coffe whilst they fitted it, andany damaged caused by them would be made good free of charge, but its only a decicsion that you can do, i know what i would do

No probs, thank you.

It was a chuck it out there thread really as it doesn't look straightforward but was vainly hoping someone would post to say it was no problem.

I will swallow hard and let the stealer do it.

Having fitted LED bulbs in the puddle lights it looks like quite an involved job to remove the whole mirror - I'd let the dealer do it
