Future Top Gear presenters being considered?

Featured Replies

Jodie Kidd!

Please, NO. The Krankies would do a better job and be a lot cheaper.

In fact, come to think of it, what's Mr Blobby up to nowadays???

  • This is a report in the Telegraph relating to a story from the Sunday Express, based on someone overhearing a conversation between Andy Wilman and Jay Kay. In other words it's a slow news day.

  • Snore.....   I've tried watching that Classic Car Show - the delivery is a cure for insomnia.

  • Penny Mallory please.    No idea about a TV presenter though.

Sue Perkins was suggested last week !

He's just been sacked by the BBC for fighting

They won't give Clarkson his old job back

Considered by who, the BBC?   Any links to that?

Angela Rippon presented it years ago.

Jodie Kidd is actually into her cars, and is much better on the eye than the previous 3

All just rumours i think George, made up by various sources.

Guy Martin was one of the rumours too, but not a chance in hell thatll happen IMO.

Not sure if its true, but i read somewhere that when Clarkson sold his share of top gear to the BBC, the terms had a clause which meant they could only use Clarkson as the main presenter under the top gear name.

Again though, that could be waffle aswel.

Fresh Blood required surely,

lots of good young Driver / Road Testers / Presenters / Journalists from the Youtube / Social Media Era, rather than the past their

sell by date,  on everything about cars or motorsport ones we have now.

Think he's doing Deal or no deal.

I know he's said he won't do it, but I still think Chris Evans would be a great presenter. He's a big car nut and does say what he thinks, so can be controversial at times. People have mentioned Guy Martin, but I think he'd be better doing Engineering type programs that Fred Dibnah used to present.

Top Gear is dead whatever trio they pick

who says it needs to be a trio.... they could refresh the whole thing ... or go back to a more consumer orientated format like in the old days of William Woolard, Tony Mason, Chris Goffey.... etc

Penny Mallory please.

She's had to leave Twitter recently due to sevsre trolling after her name was put in the frame for the Top Gear gig.

I heard Philip Glenister was being considered.

He's claiming to be faster than Sabine?

Programme needs fresh faces, not a bunch of poser's, in particularly, about the cars every-day people can afford, and not the few elite such as these over-paid commentators..

Posing as drivers in fast cars is not entertaining, what about the mechanics of the vehicle hands-on ie: get it up on a ramp, lets have a thorough good look/ under the bonnet, look in the boot for space available, etc, etc, etc.

TBH that is exactly what I don't want, and what makes / made the old TG, and Fifth Gear so boring.

If I want to check out cars that "every day people" can afford I'll go down to the local dealers, pick up a few leaflets, blag a test drive, see what discount I can blag etc. etc.

I neither need nor want overpaid commentators doing that on the TV.

I've got very little chance of doing this for the Supercars which formed the core of TG's output.

For the last few years TG has not been a car orientated consumer programme (thank God), it has been a car orientated entertainment show.

There is plenty of room in the schedules for both, but lets continue to have the choice and not simply have a motoring programme devoted to more of the grey porridge that clutters up our roads already

As for the hands on mechanics, that's what Wheeler Dealers and Car SOS are there for. Let's face it, even the Halfords' adverts take the mickey out of the "how to change a light bulb scenarios.
