Wish you all the best for the future Lee. My brother is still happily driving around in an octavia that came from Preston motors back in 2004

  • Personally I am so, so disappointed that Skoda with their increased image and market share are no longer as interested in small, loyal, family friendly dealerships that have given them great customer

  • Well, well, well. What a difference a few days can make, can be a case of 'not what you know it's who you know..... or just being a jammy bu66er. I have been offered another role at another Skoda dea

  • Well that is officially it, my time at Prestons is now very sadly over. A bit of a longer day than we were expecting but still, a long weekend beckons Thanks to everyone who has dealt with either me

Sad to hear and see a dealership that has a connection with their customer and more important is also an skoda geek like us all is closing.

Can't help but thing this is the tip of the iceberg. Pricing (albeit some do not agree) is not of Skoda of old.

Sorry to hear hut I wish you and all the best with your next adventure.

Skoda geek?! Speak for yourself Mike, we're all just normal people here

Cheers Charlie, good to hear you're brothers still enjoying the car

A very unprofessional way to shut up shop.

Surely the business could have borrowed millions & paid the principals an exorbitant salary to fund boats, large houses, expensive cars & mistresses then declare bankruptcy & put all the staff out on the street owing tens of thousands in backpay, holiday pay, etc and also leaving dozens of local suppliers in the lurch?

That's how it seems to be done down here.

It's a shame to see a family business forced out of the market.   It's all too common these days.  I wish you & your colleagues all the best for the future.

Although I live miles away it's a shame when a small business has to close for whatever reason.  I've found that the larger franchises don't usually offer the same personal service as the smaller ones  - but can't match some of the new car offers.

Very sad to here this, sounds similar to Roberttown motors near Cleckheaton ,( My Dad bought 3 Estelles from there ) which went due to not being  able to invest in flashy  saleroom , I wish you and your staff all the best

very sad to hear, we have just done the same over at at my place and are now a Skoda specialist, i personally think skoda are stupid for getting rid of all us small garages or just making it very hard for us to carry on in our case, we was only a aftersales site but had a very good reputation for fixing faults that the other garages couldn't even skoda was sending them to us rather than working with the garages to fix the problem. Oh well we will survive without them i just miss getting parts at cost price now we have to go through TPS  :giggle:

As of May I shall be gracing or is that darkening (?) the doorstep of Trans City in Walthamstow

Well that's good news.I Bought the Wife's Blueline from there back in 2010, not a lot of room to park.

Time for a name change then.

I have been offered another role at another Skoda dealers  TBF it's what I wanted, the brand is what I know and hopefully I can take a few customers over with me as well.

Good staff always find jobs mate. It's the slackers that have trouble getting work (in my experience).

As I said Denis, it is what I know and it's a family run dealership so shouldn't be too different to here, just won't quite have the rub of the green there that I do here, but hey ho, mouths to feed and bills to pay  :)

Thanks Alan, appreciated.

Mikek, wow that's going back a few years, and Goodmayes, was that Newton Motors? Long gone unfortunately.

Certainly was, the beige Favrite (G717XML) bought in 1990 brand new.

So if anyone wants to pop over and say hello, I know there's a couple of you on here that are TC customers feel free to do so.

The end of one era is nigh but the start to another is all but here.

Thanks for all the kind words etc fellas it really is appreciated. We may all be labelled 'stealers' but we're not ALL bad.

Cool I used to live in Greenleaf road directly opposite there

So with newton motors, now Preston motors gone does that make trans city the only Skoda franchise in east London?

Yes Mike, it'll be the only one around, unless anyone's got a spare 5 million quid they can lend me and I'll open up down Romford

Sad to hear about the closure but sincere best wishes for your new venture.

All the best,

Desmond ;)
