I'll put £10 in a whip round.

I've got £7.20 and half a box of orange and lime tic tacs, plus your 10, not far to go Mike

Looking forward to it, it's a bit of a chore at the minute, no cars in the showroom, all of about 5 used left, just going through the motions.

  • Personally I am so, so disappointed that Skoda with their increased image and market share are no longer as interested in small, loyal, family friendly dealerships that have given them great customer

  • Well, well, well. What a difference a few days can make, can be a case of 'not what you know it's who you know..... or just being a jammy bu66er. I have been offered another role at another Skoda dea

  • Well that is officially it, my time at Prestons is now very sadly over. A bit of a longer day than we were expecting but still, a long weekend beckons Thanks to everyone who has dealt with either me

We've had a few cars off you over the years for our customers, it's sad that you're closing, but at least it's being done under your own terms.  Good luck at Trans City, is Mr Hunt still in charge there?

Glad your sorted on the job front Lee,

Used to deliver Tyres to Trans City a few years back, always got a parking ticket!! But that's another story.

I'll check down the back of the sofa and see if we can round it up to £20

As I said Fordy, heads held high rather than heads rolling. Mr Hunt? Err, Warren and Brian are the owners/guv'nors, Rhys is sales/handovers and a bit of everything but don;t know his last name, there is another chap down there but I'll be buggered if I can think of his name.

That is the key ball ache Mike, the parking is a right royal PITA - they've worked wonders with the space that is available just the parking issue, but hey, that's London for you  :wall:

It's a start but I'd rather spend it on sun, sea and sangria  :cocktail:

Hi Lee,

Just seen this thread, have to agree with everyone that it's a real shame that Preston Motors have decided to pull the plug.

Where are Valerie & I going to get our next Skoda's from, oh, probably in Walthamstow...........?

I know about the parking, used to live in Hoe St. next to the Granada, albeit 40+ years ago.

When the next Gen. Superb arrives in the UK we'll pop over & let you sell us another car, we don't fancy shopping locally.

Really glad to know that your health is improving & you've found a new place to do what you do.

Cheers, DC & Valerie, (Married at last!)

Glad to hear a positive outcome, but sorry to read the dealership is closing.

The brands really dont want small dealers anymore.  They just want the big chains who can stock lots and lots of cars

That's a shame.

Happened around here too when the local Skoda shop was bought over by one of the big boys.

Best of luck for the future.

Of course David. I'm taking my customer database over there so you will be getting bombarded with letters from them now  :giggle:

I shall see you in a few months, and congratulations to you and Val, she finally tied you down  :D

Being able to walk straight in to another place has been a god send. I've had a couple of other offers, and in fairness the money is a bit better, but without having the driving license at the mo, travel can be a PITA. Had one interview that was about 21 miles away, lovely jubbly, but to train it........................ 1 hour 45 minutes  :o  S0d that, plus the owners over there have been accommodating with regards to the license, so hopefully all it'll be like putting on those shoes that you've had for donkeys years.

That's a shame.

Cheers mate, appreciated. Sad times but onwards and upwards  :)

Just pick up on this; pleased to hear your staying with Skoda Lee and best of luck with your new post. Sad though Preston is closing, a real shame.

Regards as always,

Thanks Tim, appreciated  :)

Earlier I had a customer actually in tears with the fact that we were closing - she'd dealt with us since (nigh on) the outset, almost half a century  :'(

Looking forward to a long weekend next weekend then head down 4rse up and start all over again

Bought my car from Preston Motors a year ago because my local dealer chain were terrible

Took the car in for first service 3 weeks ago and asked them to fix the sat nav which has been broken for ages, they said it was some part needed fixing they would order it and phone me. Never happened so I chased them several times and didnt get a reply, now I know why - Lee told me today they are shutting tomorrow, lol. This caught me rather by surprise (I don't venture outside the Octavia 3 forum)

Big shame to lose the dealers they seemed a good shop to me - and there are hardly any in Essex now

Hopefully I can get my spare part from elsewhere

Trouble is I dont actually know what part I need...!

I can think of 3 dealers in the county, Colchester, Harlow & Rayleigh, + a Service Agent in Chelmsford.

They should all be able to do warranty work.

Thanks to everyone who has dealt with either me or the company as a whole over decades. Thanks for the kind messages and words when my health was a lot worse than it is now and a big thanks to Colin for his help and assistance over the years

As mentioned, I shall be heading over to Trans City from Tuesday so any local members :hi: I'm not going anywhere but might not be on as much (for now anyway :bandit:) until I'm a bit more settled (FEET UNDER TABLE )

From one era (hopefully) to another.

Hi Lee.

Best of luck in Walthamstow, you've got our details, let us know when you get your 1st Superb 3 demonstrator.

Dc + SWMBO

Oh dear only just found out about this; walking past the showroom and did a double take when I realised the badges had gone.

Glad to hear you are still selling Skodas Lee will no doubt see you at Walthamstow.

Best of Luck in the new job

Richard

Just need a change if user name now Lee :(

Very sad that a family run business has to close like that.

Good to hear that you got employed at Trans City. Warren is a nice chap, he sold me my Fabia a few years back.

Best of luck there! And good luck with their car park!

I know Charlie - I usually pick something that stands out a bit, but this one wiĺl just be plain and boring. Time to raid the usernames me thinks.

No doubt I'll see you around anyway Danny. There's not many silver Furby's round our neck of the woods.

I've only seen one other silver one locally to me. I can go days between seeing any vRS Skoda!

I believe they call this progress, call it what you like, when it looks like it, smells like it and tastes like it, its cooperate bull****

Reminds me of when the Royal Mail gave my bike to a Nigerian and made me share a van with another Postie, an hour later getting out in the morning and 2 hours latte getting back and still, they call it progress.

All the very best for the future Lee in whatever you choose to do.

Hi Lee, I was sorry to hear about the closure of Preston Motors and I'll be sure to say hello to you next time I'm in Trans City.

Good luck with your new role there :)
