Anybody been to Longleat? And how was the car?

Featured Replies

Daughter decided some years ago (in her Toyota Yaris) to go see the monkeys at Longleat. She and a couple of friends were determined to do it despite the warnings. Those monkeys spend 24 hours a day, 365 days a year either ripping bits off cars or thinking about ripping bits off cars. Off they went, and came back with a car minus loads of stuff which had been stolen, most notably the rear wiper arm. I priced it up from Toyota and it was neck end of £70, and the rest of it I got from the scrap yard to put it back together. Cost her about £200 in total for repairs.

Put it this way I bet the park rangers or zoo keepers what ever they are called have an eBay account with sales of car parts in excess of 10k items ;-)

Every car we watched go through was partially dismantled except for a Vauxhall Calibra which they didn't touch for some strange reason.

They do have some standards!

When i was a kid we went on a school trip to Longleat , the coach driver took us in the monkey enclosure and they were climbing all over the bus to our great amusement but as soon as we got on the motorway the skylights blew out , the monkeys has removed all the trim .

A mate had one of these , well a replica really it was the 1.3, he fitted the rear spoiler to it and everything , one visit to the monkey enclosure later and it had a single bite right out of the middle
