Indicator Bulbs?

Featured Replies

When I bought my Fabia, the previous MOT certificate stated that the indicators front and back were 'slightly discoloured' which was considered an advisory.

Turns out that the bulbs that are in the back are just standard white bulbs with strips of orange coloured acetate messily glued on. I haven't checked the front.

Do I need to get proper orange bulbs for them, and are they expensive? Bulbs are ususally dead cheap so I cant imagine why the previous owner felt the need to go to the effort of gluing on acetate for the sake of a few pennies.

Just had a quick check on eBay £3.99 delivered for 10 bulbs

The indicator bulbs are amber 581 bulbs. They have offset pins.

The bulbs are just sprayed with amber lacquer. It's probably just flaking off as it tends to do with age. Standard white indicator bulbs would not fit in the holder due to having non-offest pins.
