defective tyres from manufacturer. where do i stand?

Featured Replies

Had 2 vred sessansas on the front for about 12 month now and i have been having handling issues at speed and a funny noise comming from the off side. Anyway long story short my regular garage swapped them to the back and all is well the handling is back to how it should be. They said that both tyres where out of shape and they would have been like that out the factory. This has peed me off a little knowing that i payed full price for second rate tyres. With it being so long ago is it my loss or if i contact the company will i have a chance of getting somethin off them as compo? I dont wana fork out again for 2 tyres when there is still loads of tread on them.

Contact the Supplier you got them from, for them to contact their Supplier to have a Manufacturers Rep have the Tyres Inspected.

Are they Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas ?

So where do you buy them, and have them fitted?

What is wrong with the tyres according to the fitter?

How is your suspension, Lowered,  did you get alignment checks,

and do you run the correct pressures?

After a year, on your feet!

I don't think you'd stand much chance of getting replacements or compensation, not least because some of us wear fronts out in that time or less.

I've had a similar issue with a Vredestein going out of shape but that was on a Hi Trac that had been on the car for a couple of years.  However, having said I didn't folloow it through with Vredestein as my view was that there was no way I'd be able to prove the tyre hadn't been damaged by a kerb or pothole given the state of the roads in Sheffield.

Yeah goneoffski.they are. They just said out of shape. Cars lowered and had a full hunter geo check

So the big question is, when after fitting did the handling issues at speed,

and a noise from the offside rear its ugly head.?

1 Year on seems a bit long to be looking at the tyres and complaining.

What size, & Speed / Load Rating did you fit.?

Contact your supplier but after a tear it may be hard to prove they were like it from new.

Are they ok on the back? If they are then just run them as they are

They seam really noisy in the back.

What pressures have you been running, and when they say out of shape have they defined how?

Sounds like an inflation issue

33psi. They said there was a lump in the middle of both tyres

Do you just air up at some filling station and trust to that reading, or do you use a accurate pressure gauge.

And how often do you check them, like as the seasons change?

Are they checked now and definitely at 33 PSI?

Last night i was asking where you bought them and who fitted them.?

I thought most Octavia owners ran their 18's at 34 or 35 because of issues with that size?

really? I didnt know that. What issues have been noted? Ill try it with more then.

I think it's wear.

17's need 32 or 33 all round.  Also seem to recall owners with 18's run more on the front than rear?

I have put 36psi all round this morning and its loads better. The tyre noise i was getting from the rear is reduced and it appears alot smoother and a nicer ride. Its amazing what just the wrong tyre preasures can do

Is that 36 cold or warm? (as in driven to the garage)

If warm, always add 3psi to cold temps.

Is it possible to measure warm?

Youll never know just how warm they are, and never know how much expansion has taken place, surely?

Always do mine cold

Exactly. Always do it cold no matter what

Same principle as trying to top up a sealed central heating system up when its warm/hot really.

You just dont know.

If you've been for a run on a dual carriageway they should certainly be 'warm'.

Even a few. Miles around town they should be 'warm' as well.
