Polar PF03 FIS Advanced (FIS+) unit (VIM, VCDS, etc)

Featured Replies

Auto Polar FIS+ unit for sale, I've had my fun scrolling through it's many functions.
This is the box that connects between your car and the CAN gateway if you have Maxidot and gives you access to many, many menus of data and information.
The new PF03 units also do lots of things that you typically need VCDS to do - this includes things like adjusting your auto-light sensor sensitivity, activating auto lock, changing the lang change flash from 3 to 5 or more flashes and so on.
It also activates VIM if you have a Columbus unit and if you have things like OPS, it'll show and OPS display in Maxidot. There are a few other features that I never bothered exploring.
It also shows lots of data you would normally need extra gauges to read (such as boost and fuel pressure), but shows them with the measuring block functions so you can read actual boost against requested.

The Polarwebsite is here and there is a minisite within that links to all of the features of FIS advanced. They're completely updatable whenever Polar launch a new version and these will work with what Polar call a red display (i.e. the white Maxidot in the Mk2) and the white display (the new display in the facelift Mk2 Octavia, Superb, whatever).

These are the vehicles supported:

Volkswagen Golf Mk5 (1K) (RED FIS)
- Volkswagen Golf Mk6 (5K) (WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen Jetta Mk5 (1K) (RED FIS)
- Volkswagen Jetta Mk6 (5C) (WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen Caddy (2K) (RED FIS)
- Volkswagen Caddy (2C) (WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen Tiguan (5N) (RED AND WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen Touran (1T) (RED AND WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen EOS (1F) (RED AND WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen Passat (3C) (RED FIS)
- Volkswagen Passat (36) (WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen Passat CC (35) (WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen Scirocco (13) (RED AND WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen Sharan (7N) (WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen Touran (1T) (RED AND WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Volkswagen Tiguan (5N) (RED AND WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Skoda Octavia II & Skoda Octavia II FL (1Z) (RED AND WITHE/COLOR FIS)
- Skoda Superb II (3T) (WHITE/COLOR FIS)

- Seat Leon II & Seat Leon II FL (1P) (WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Seat Alhambra (7N) (WHITE/COLOR FIS)
- Seat Altea, Seat Altea XL and Seat Altea Freetrack (5P) (RED AND WITHE/COLOR FIS)
- Seat Toledo (5P) (RED AND WITHE/COLOR FIS)

It's in excellent condition having been fitted to my car for the last couple of months. I've damaged a wheel and want to raise some money to get them repaired.

I'd like £180 ONO including post.

Hup

Yes that's the one.

That price does not include tax or shipping (from I think Spain) and the two bump up the €205 price considerably.

It's not import tax, it's the VAT in whichever country it's being sold in.

But thanks for pointing out another price, that's really helpful to this sale.

I paid more than €205, plus shipping plus VAT on the total. I think £180 for this, which includes post and insurance is pretty good.

Hi, does this unit convert BAP protocol to DDP?

My aftermarket stereo doesn't communicate properly with my pre-fl Maxidot, and I've heard claims this may work?

Cheers

I'm not entirely sure to be honest.

I know one person who has a Polar PF03+ fitted and their Columbus unit started to work properly with Maxidot. Also, if you have a BT unit fitted, this enables the telephone menu in Maxidot - I don't know which BT kit you have to have fitted, but my assumption is that it allows new BAP only BT kits to then function with DDP MFDs.

Hope that somehow helps!

My HU is a Chinese made Colombus clone. It has integrated BT which works fine, so there is no issue there.

My main reason for interest would be to fix the maxidot integration issue and the logged canbus VCDS error in my late pre-fl vRS. My gateway is a revision V so I don't think the problem lies with that. I've searched for definitive answers on here, but come up short.

I'll have to contact Polar directly and see what they come up with.

Cheers.

Good luck with that. I've asked a similar question of Polar and they told me it was never designed to perform that function.

I don't think it can convert all the CAN signals.

Just those from certain modules.

So it can convert the messages for OPS (Or PDC), climate control and FL Bluetooth modules but won't do anything for stereos. So a stereo that will only support one protocol won't suddenly work with the Polar FIS fitted.

Phil

Ah, right thanks for that. Sadly that's a deal breaker for me.

Good luck with the sale.

Apparently it has worked ok for that purpose for some people. Polar don't list it as an official function though and technically isn't supported.

Anyway still got it, £180 inc post.

Do the functions and settings it can set (e.g. auto light sensitivity) get permanently written like with VCDS and remain in-place even if this box were unplugged? Or do they only apply while it's connected?

I *think* they get permanently written - when making amendments, the unit has to go through a save settings process. I'd have to check that with polar.
