whilst driving round in my octy vrs taking care to stick within the speed limits of this politically correct country (AHEM) | have noticed a noise that sounds like a tropical fish tank over on the pasenger side of the dash.even does it when motors turned off for a bit.

dont think it does it with the climate turned off, and its usually set around 19 deg so I dont think its the air con...

any ideas?

Could it be something like a damper motor on the climate control system? The fresh air intake is over there somewhere, can you run all the dampers on the system to see if they make that kind of noise? mess around with all the settings and turn the compressor on and off and see if you can track it down a little.

I love that description at least it's tropical fish :P
