Minimum thickness of rear discs?

Featured Replies

Our Roomster past it’s MoT last Monday with an advisory that the rear pads don’t have much life left (missed that one!), whilst I am considering if the rear discs also need changing. I’ve come across figure of 7mm for the minimum thickness can anyone confirm this?

Being old school I was told one-eight of an inch thickness which is less than 7mm.

Yes 7mm front and 7.5 mm back both including base plate, which every time I've looked it up  never seems very much to me.

A lot of garages will try it on with MOT advisory's as a lot of the time they are just looking for work, preying on people who have no technical knowledge of cars.

I had a suspension top mount on a VW Golf advisory regarding to much play.I wrote to car mechanics magazine for advice,on how much play there should be.They said it was all down to the opinion of the tester, and It would probably go through the test next year without any mention. And sure enough next MOT and several more after  no mention, whatsoever.
