  • I use cruise control a lot in mine. Its very simple.

  • Yes I agree, somewhat like the mirrorlink fiasco (but thats another thread)

  • Yes, but I dont want to annoy the driver behind me. So I will have to use switch.

Can you post a photo of the underside of the stalk, lesmond?

From the front..

and underside..

Looking at this pic from the manual some models have one or both...

I'll probably never use it.. it's there for one day, but I like to be in control and don't think the economy in cruise would be there..

give it a try, I use cruise a lot

areas with speed cameras it is great especially average speed camera areas, set to limit and you are safe, also on motorway your speed doesn't gradually creep up and your right foot don't go to sleep

also when on cruise it doesn't stop you speeding up to overtake, just means when you take your foot off the loud peddle it settles back to the speed you set (so long as you haven't braked or depressed the clutch which cause cruise to disengage)

lots of safety thought about in the design and implementation of cruise, if esp or traction control cuts in it disengages, brake or change gear it disengages

like all the systems on the car they are aids or tools to make you life easier and safer

It seems you don't have button D after all, lesmond. I was convinced you must have so apologies for that.

The lack of that button would imply to me that you have cruise but not the limiter.

I tried it and its definitely the Limiter only mate, I set it at say 30 mph and I cant go any faster than that

Does the display have "LIM" over the little speedo symbol that comes up?

Yes it does

Definitely the limiter then. It seems odd that Skoda would give you that but not cruise.

,not being funny but the original poster has a S E , here in the uk , I think cruse control is SEL spec??

Always using the cc, only exception is city driving. Probably saved me a fortune in never issued speeding tickets.

Also a great relief for my right foot :)

Admittedly works better in less intensive traffic, we have got nothing compared to your M1 over here :-)

Yep - Speed Limiter is the standard fit - Cruise (with the D button) is either optional or a standard on the top spec in some markets. (Not here in IRL - CC is only an option across the range )

And in the handbook (downloaded version) - The Cruise Control System (CCS) is confusingly, also referred to, sporadically, as GRA - with no mention of what GRA means. But having done some Googling - it's the German acronym for Speed Control System (Geschwindigeits Regel Anlage).

Proof-reading on that handbook is rather patchy !

Had the cc on my old Fabia 1.9 estate and its on my new Fabia 1.2 sel it definitely keeps you out of police trouble in 30/40 speed limits. Its more relaxing on motorway driving and if you are watching the mpg you can usually see an improvement. I love it when it shows you are getting 100+ mpg though its usually when going down hill Joe

I wonder if the only difference is in the stalk ie would fitting the stalk with button D give cruise without any further fiddling?

Good point prog  :nerd:

Was going to get the SE version and CC was £180 factory fit, so getting dealer to fit may be more expensive even though it may only be a plugin to the system and recoading the chip Joe

Checked the info its the speed limiter and cruise control that costs £180 factory fitted the S comes with speed limiter only and no cc upgrade the Se has the option to upgrade from speed limiter to limiter and cc at £180 and SEL comes with both as standard. If I was cynical I might think the SE is built with speed limiter and CC installed and all you are paying for is a plug in cable and a change of operating arm and the necessary computer changes Joe

That is how it can be with Skoda & VWG Cars.

They can charge the likes of £700 extra for a 105 ps car over a 86 ps when the difference between the identical vehicles is only the Map / software on the ECU, no hardware changes.

The likes of the CC thing is probably why they are not selling as many cars now as they might want to, they put off buyers with the Extras cost,

the VFM factor has gone from the Skoda Brand.

They even have supposed Halo models like the new 2015 Polo GTI that comes without CC as standard.

Got my Fab yesterday.

Drove it a bit today, using the CC. Seems to work just like the CCs always did work in any VAG vehicle I ever drove; Skoda, VW, Audi, Seat.

Whats the fuzz?

Oh, never drove Bentleys or Bugattis btw, might differ.

Have discovered with the cruse control switched on and you have set your speed if you give 1 click to the + or -  the car speed changes by 1 MPH and clicks in quick secession i.e. 5 quick clicks changes the speed by 5 MPH handy if you want to make small changes to your set speed Joe

-and if you keep it pushed in the car will accelerate - or deccelerate - until you leave it.

Sounds the same as the mk2 CC then?

Apart from the speed limiter, which seems a tad gimmicky tbh

Guess the limiter can be quite useful at certain places. Like driving in Norway where traffic cameras are more numerous than spruce trees and speeding tickets will cost the earth and a bit more.

Hmm. I like to be able to put my foot down to get out the way of stuff if i need to though lol
