Fault with Automatic Locking?

Featured Replies

Chaps, need some opinions on whether my automatic locking system has developed a fault or not.

Basically the locks no longer automatically engage when I move off even although the option is enabled on the system settings. The locks respond when I press the central locking button by the gearstick. Apart from this everything else in the car is working fine.

Does anyone know if there is another over-ride function which can disable the automatic locking function? Or is a trip to the garage for investigation

Sounds like a fault, probably in the convenience module. If anti hijack is enabled the doors should lock when you hit 10MPH

Do you use both keys for the car i.e dont use the same key each time you get in the car....remember convenience settings are stored per key.

I had a similar experience with the alarm chirp....was because it was set as default with the main key but not the spare...same with the anti-hijack locking.

Just noticed that I now have the same problem, did you solve it in the end?

There should be a button where your electic windows sitches are that can turn it off and on.  The button has a picture of a dorr on it.

I personally think there's an issue with the central locking in various different ways that can develop from what ive experienced myself and from what ive read on here from different people

That button is to enable/disable the rear door window switches...the central locking button has a padlock icon and is in the row of switches above the gear shifter.

I've tried going back to factory settings and using my spare key, no luck so going to visit my dealership, fingers crossed they can sort this out for me, will let you know what they do.

Mines just been in to the dealers for the same problem, auto locking box ticked but the doors didn't lock.

They traced the fault ( so they say ) to the micro swith in the passenger door, drivers side.  Lubricated the lock and all seems to be fine. They also disconnected the battery which I'm told is like a factory reset, it was also hooked up to there computer
