So how good have Fabia MK3 sales been in 1st two months post launch?

Featured Replies

my Mk1 top of the range VRS was £5,500.00 less.

I agree new cars are expensive, but the VRS would have been at least 7 years ago and everything's got more expensive since then. And unless options were added, it was never "top of the range" - it was mid level spec with sportier engine and emphasis, as opposed to adding more "toys" for the top model. I think of it more that the Mk1 vRS was really a "bargain" which will never be repeated

Well, in Dublin - which is well served with Skoda dealerships - it's still rare to see a new Fabia. Before I ordered mine, mid-April, I had seen one hatch and one estate, on the roads. Since then, I have seen two hatches! Yet, when I visit the dealer - he says they're flying out - and sure enough - there's always different ones there being PDI'ed - including two like I've ordered - Capp. Beige Estates. I just don't see them on the road. Maybe that's partially because Fabia's are being bought as second car / low-mileage cars. So - are parked in driveways most of the time!

That's the only sense I can make of it just now!

In comparison - I see new Fiestas, Polos and new model Hyundai i20s around, frequently!

It's driving me nuts.

OK - well, not really.

Not many salespeople in Franchised Dealerships say these cars are selling like stale cakes and unless we can reduce the price we are going to be left with them, so we need to Register them as Demonstrators if not bought by the end of this month,

then sell as used cars.

Skoda UK looks like Millions spent on advertising and 'What Car' Car of the Year Hatch 1.2 TSI has not caught the buying publics imaginations

or fancy in any numbers.

Proper pricing in the UK might get people buying them.

Saw my 3rd Mk3 today - this morning going through Calne, Wilts. An Estate in Dark Met Grey, looked very smart, again unable to discern the actual spec.

Spotted my 4th today, local to where I live - will check it out with a closer look.

Silver Hatch.

I've seen two.

That's driving from Chelmsford to London and back nearly every day.

Fact is, they look nice in pictures and in the showroom, but amongst other cars they just blend in.

Nothing to get excited about IMO once they are out on the road.

And the pricing means you need a hefty discount to justify buying.

Unless you want to suffer massive depreciation.

I don't understand why the cheapest Fabia mk3 (at the "from" price on the Skoda website) is still noticably more expensive than the mk2 Greenline estate I bought 4 years ago.

And that came with decent spec including cruise and parking sensors.  Cost me around £11k.

How long before we have a rerun of the Rapid, with better spec/cost incentives that are worth having?

Because if you buy a new good spec one for around £16-17k it's got to be worth £11-12k as a trade in after a year...

Can't help thinking you can get a better car and it'll actually cost less once you work out the depreciation.

Here in Denmark I have only seen my own.

Driving between Copenhagen and 60 miles W.

Guess the 'quiet' people, which I think this car is ment for, are waiting for the discounts when the car is not so new.

Regarding car fasion:

When the present Asian 'Louix XIV Mantle Clock'-, and Renault 'old steam engine' design begins to look sooo yesterday, I think the sale of the timeless Fabia will catch up.

Just my opinion though :)

First post, so hello...

Been scouring this forum since purchasing a new fabia estate for the wife at the weekend so thought I may as well put my tuppence worth in.

I ordered the 1.2 90 SEL Estate and I think it's an absolute bargain of a car to be honest. I've had a skoda in the past and a wide array of different vehicles and for the money I can't argue at all. I find it to be great value. 0% finance along with the fuel card and some extras haggled in made for an easy decision for me.

Welcome to the forum.

How much did you pay?

It is nice that people can get a good deal on the purchase price now,

and better than those that bought managed to get in the first quarter of them being available.

Tough on those that got in there early helped Skoda Dealerships get some sales, so maybe Skoda can as a gesture do an extended warranty or the likes while there are still low numbers of owners,

after all it will actually cost nothing in 3 years time and until 2020 if the cars they built are all of good quality.

Welcome to the forum.

Thank you.

Off the top of my head it was a shade over 16k, possibly about 16,300. Candy white paint with black beam alloys, privacy glass and rear electric windows. Haggled the price a little and got the simply clever pack thrown in along with a full tank of fuel.

Shows how prices have moved on since Skoda became a lot more fashionable.

Our first Yeti (a 1.2 DSG SE spec) cost us around £500 more a few years back.

Never forget that car, it was part exchanged 18 months later and we got £13,000 back on top of another healthy discount!

I looked at a very nice Yeti in the showroom, was top spec, very nice indeed. However I think it was 22k+!

Skoda have definately came a long way in terms of image and the Fabia Mk3 is a vast improvement over the Mk2 in terms of looks in my opinion.

The thing is that Looks are only Skin Deep, especially with a car.

(& when inside you can not see how they look outside you can only check other cars or yours in big shop windows)

They sit an ickle bit lower, track is a bit wider, the tyres a bit wider, the Tornado Line has the body a little wider,

the inside is really no wider.

They still look on stilts on many models as they leave the factory.

(even after the transportation inserts are removed.)

Wider track and tyres have the ride feeling better.

So they look better than the MK2, and the estate looks better in many peoples opinions than the hatch.

Time will tell if after taking long enough to replace the mk2, and all past experience and the opportunity to build a totally

problem free car as a replacement if Skoda managed that.

Pity about the Connectivity that they made such a big deal about for 12 months before releasing the car

being pretty rubbish.

Youthful, Crisp, a step up in design,  squat / emotional,

yet often when i see a Fiat Stilo i have to take a second look to check is it a New Fabia or the Fiat.

Looking online at the usual websites you can get a top spec (no options) £17k Fabia estate for £15,150.  About £1,850 off.

At launch they were list price only.

Option it up to £19k and it's £2,000 off.

That's not bad for a start.

However I was interested to see that the same site can do a Polo GTI at a greater discount, with a £19,500 car coming in at £16,200.  Over £3,000 off.

With no VRS on the market that's a good buy IMO.

Bigger discount on the Polo GTI even though no Fabia VRS competitor

Seems that on the hatchback with the Fabia and regular Polo being so close in price the VW can actually be bought for the same money or a bit cheaper.  Bit of a surprise.

Very poor sales and orders in the UK on the 2015 VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI Manual and DSG, and much cheapness can be expected if sales are going

to be as poor as they were with the 1.4 TSI DSG and less than 1,400 First Registered in 4 years and many First Registered to VW UK

& VW Dealerships.

There is a new Seat Ibiza Face lifted again but with a 1.8TSI Manual coming out soon so it will be interesting to see how they price that.

The GTI has no toys on it - so once you spec it up it's a bit pricier! Still a great buy though and no comparison to the lack lustre Fabia engines if that's what you want!

Having been disappointed with the Fabia III, we did consider a Polo GT/GTI as a potential Monte replacement later in the year. However having sat in a GT recently I found we couldn't get the drivers chair to slide back enough, for me anyway.

Mind and earlier than expected we did end up replacing the Monte; with a Volvo   :giggle:

TP

Update from Finland: The Fabia III is 25th most sold car model for the first 6 months. This is quite nice considering that the real volume model - estate - was introduced only in mid March, and also the hatchback deliveries to customers started in March

Edited by the_raz

'25th most Sold' (or is that Registered)

Is that not terrible, what were the 24 more sold models in Finland, and how many cars are sold in Finland in the first 6 months of a Year normally?

Are Estates selling in more volume than Hatches

& how many Fabia is it that have sold in Finland?

EDIT, I am finding some answers. with a google

VW Golf #1, Octavia #2

http://bestsellingcarsblog.com/catergory/finland

Not that article but another says the Fabia was in the top 10 @#8

Then not in the top 30,

& now back to #25.  Understandable when the previous car was discontinued.

In the UK in 2013 where Skoda First Registered 66,000 cars, 32.000 were Fabia.

Then Octavia became the best Seller, with the Octavia Mk3,

It will be interesting to see how soon Fabia become Skodas best Seller again in the UK, if ever.

Actually it is quite OK since the Fabia has only really been available for half of the time. So far 679 Fabias have been registered (you are right, not sold) this year, but the #14 has only registered 870 (Volvo XC60), so there are small margins up to higher positions. The top models are Skoda Octavia, Nissan Qashqai, VW Golf, VW Passat in that order.

The HB and estate are registered together, so the split is not visible from the official registration statistics, in the first 6 months a total of 56436 new cars were registered. Estates are much more popular in Finland than other car types, so no doubt the Fabia estate will be the more popular as well. Most of the Fabias I see on the road are also estates.

In the South East of the UK, where I am, in the last 8 weeks I have seen: 1000's of VW Polos, many 100's of Golfs, about 100 Skodas of different marques, about 30 MkII Fabias of which about 5 were estates, and maybe 5 or 6 MkIII Fabias only 1 of which was an estate.

I am on the roads for 2 hours every working day.

I don't see many around where I live/travel to work. I see the same SE L Red Estate MKIII everyday....
