Jcb05 , where did you get the chip. Is there a link. I'm looking a bit more power from my 1.2 110hp manual. Do you think the air filter makes a difference ?

Hi, Jcb05: I've had a look at Maxchip's website, and their products appear very impressive for the price. Can you comment on how good the installation instructions are, and just how easy the chip was to fit?

The 1.2 110ps is already a 'chipped' version of the 90ps, so in my opinion running it at 142ps isn't going to make it last very long, with a DSG box also, they are known for failure. As to Skoda not knowing it been chipped, its all logged in the ECU. So when you turn up with a broken engine or box, they can say ta ta to you.

Rather you than me folks.

I think you'll find the 90bhp is a detuned version of the 110bhp rather than the 90 having to be chipped or mapped to to get the higher output.

DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch are not known for failure are they since VW, Skoda, Audi, Seat had to do World Wide Recalls,

and only EU / UK Service Campaigns from 2014 on DSG / S-tronics.

Surely after 2014 VW / Skoda have any fundamental design, manufacturing, component quality control and fluid issues resolved.

Plenty Euro 6 emission petrol engines with up to 150ps are fitted with these gearboxes.

Has anyone heard of failures on ones that are being built in the new Skoda Factory or VW Factories since they expanded production last year?

Hi, waiting on arrival of my hatch monte.

Wondering if anyone has a picture of a monte hatch with Skoda mud flaps? Thinking I need some for where we live, but not sure what it will look like.

Cheers

Cheers.

They look good actually, better than I thought. Quite discrete.

Certainly keeps the sills & lower rear wings much cleaner.

Is it jacked up here?

Ha ha, no it's on standard suspension.

Dealer fitted rear flaps to my monte told me fronts wouldn't fit. I had a pair of mk2 octavia flaps (new) sitting in my garage. Drilled a couple of new holes and they fitted the monte ok.

Pick my corrida MC on Saturday. Woohoo!

Hello. New to the forum here. Picking up my (green) Monte Carlo today (in 45 minutes, actually)! 110 engine! So excited! It's my second car. My first was a Peugeot 107. She was loved dearly and I'm gonna miss her but she had no toys and no go. Wondering if anyone has any advice? I've sorted insurance, gap insurance and everything else out, so more driving/running in/what too do first advice. It's bog standard apart from the colour (someone else spec'd it and cancelled).

Looking forward to joining the club. Would post photos but can't figure out how!

Welcome to the forum.

To post photo's I use photobucket, but there are many others you can use. Just upload your photo, & copy the image link & paste it into your post.

Greetings all, I took delivery of my Corrida Red estate a couple of days ago, very happy with it so far.

No extras other than space saver wheel, I have ordered boot mat, mud guards and boot nets from Superskoda.

Looking forward to contributing my experiences in the future and no doubt will have a few questions to post along the way.

Sorry, been away for a while... the Maxchip is amazing! loads more power, loads more torque easy to fit but the instructions they send are for the WRONG ENGINE!!!

you plug in 2 cables, one on the Turbo Manifold (Cable Marked Turbo) this one is easy as its smack bang in front of you when you open the bonnet.

The second however took me 20 mins to work out. The cable is labelled Sagorader (Or similar) German for intake manifold. I searched high and low for it... The cable is underneath the Air box. you have to completely remove the Airbox to plug it in. easy enough as its only 2 pinch rings and the sharp tug to pull it off the rubber mountings.

I ran the cable underneath the turbo piping and left the chip in front of the battery as it was a fairly tight fit and easy to remove when it goes in for its regular servicing due to my mileage at 20-22k a year.

I agree with the other comments above, the engine is actually taken from a Golf Mk7 and they have it listed at 110bhp only.. the 90 has had the top end of the map removed essentially so they are making it less responsive.

I have never seen a failure of a DSG Gearbox on a car like this and if they are known for failure why would the VAG group make them compulsory to cars over 250BHP? like the Golf R, Audi RS Range? they are the same boxes with different Gear sets?

I have had VAG group cars for the last 8 years and NONE of them have had any kind of Engine malfunction due to the increase of power put through them, the largest of which was an additional 55bhp through standard turbo's and intakes. No uprated internals.

The only issue I have had with the car since I have bought it was the accident detection system is way too sensitive.. mine freaks out at the sight of a bus or a puddle! both of which are prevalent in London. Im hoping to get Skoda to turn it down a touch at the weekend otherwise I want it disabled as it has almost caused several accidents recently with the poor weather in spurts.

A DQ200 7 Speed Twin dry Clutch DSG running in the likes of the Mk3 Fabia or MK2 vRS with 180ps minimum

and with some running  without issues Remaps and 205-220 BHP is nothing like a DQ250 6 speed Wet Clutch DSG.

But that is a subject for another thread maybe.
