Recovering deleted photos

Featured Replies

I've lost my backup CD that contained Honeymoon photo's so as you can guess I'm gutted. :(

The photo's were taken on an XD card but have since been deleted. I've tried a few recovery programs but none are picking up any deleted photo's, can someone help?

Pleeeeeeease.

Have you used the XD card since deleting the pics, if you have the chances of getting all the pics back a virtually zero.

Try a program called recovermyfiles, download a trial version from http://www.recovermyfiles.com/ and see if it finds them. The program looks for the structure of jpg entries sector by sector, so even if the the fat entry is destroyed it may find the picture.

I have used it with success, if it finds something then send me a PM and I maybe able to help you.

I've used it a couple of times and it works well. I think the trial will let you search the card to see whats there but to recover it you have to register.

Let us know how you get on.

Can also recommend recover my files, however the trial version will only find the items, not recover them.

Des,

Did you move the files off the card before deleting them, or did you delete them straight off the card?

I've just tried the evaluation version of Recover My Files. Very easy to use and identified 21,000 files which have been deleted. Pity it costs so much for the registered version - although I might pay that much in a genuine emergency.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've used numerous recovery programs, only one program picked up some previously deleted files, 400 of them but I cannot view them, plus the sizes are not correct. I'll keep at it though.

I use Imagerecall. Works OK with Compactflash and Smartmedia cards, but not if the card has been formatted. Available from QVC of WWW.imagerecall.com
