Estate rear suspension

Featured Replies

Guys, looking to see if it's poss to sort the rear suspension on the octy, mines is a 12 plate estate taxi, when I'm fully loaded it always catches at the back, seriously bad scrapping, even worse when you've got 4 passengers with cases. Mostly catches on speed bumps.

Anything available, heavy duty springs or something?

fit and forget ,use them for towing, transformed the rear end reduced rear end sagging and improved ride comfort when towing.

Contact Eibach. They do springs for this, i've got a set and with 150kg+ in the back it doesnt move

I fitted Grayston Spring Aassistors to mine for when I have the bike rack on the back with 4 bikes and a fully loaded boot - easy to fit and totally reversible in an hour or so. They have made a reasonable difference when loaded for the sake of a few quid.

Which size did you order?

As mines is a taxi I need something that will last, it takes a punishment some times with weight, 4 passengers & 4 cases mostly, then some add bloody hand luggage.

Mine are GE14s that I got off Matt@theforce on here and they've been on for a couple of years with no issues.  Not sure how long he had them on.  They've coped well for the money...

Some say they can damage the springs but I've never heard of that and the internet hasn't shown anything up either.

Forgot to say you'll need two - one for each side as they come in singles.

Had the same issue with the ball-mounted bike rack but fitted MAD Helper Springs and problem solved. (I provided the springs and my dealer fitted them for me ).

Hi,

My car is a Scout, and the suspension is too hard (for the most part) though OK when towing. In spite of the stiff settings, it still crashes and sometimes bottoms out over speed bumps.

Year ago, I had rear air shocks (adjustaride ?) on a Vauxhall Cavalier (2.0l twin cam) and these were fantastic.

Softer ride when you wanted it and harder ride when you needed it (towing etc)

Air hose connection in boot (with pressure gauge) easy to increase / decrease pressure. Don't know if they are still made. If they are, will consider a swap when rear shocks have had it !

One time (I think it was Armstrong) had a system where you could adjust shock absorber settings on the go ! Compressor in car and an adjustable knob next to driver.

Cheers,

Lloyd
