Octavia VRS 144k, petrol, any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm looking at a Skoda Octavia vRS estate 1.8 Turbo, with 144k on the clock, cam belt changed at 138k. 180bhp O_O

Any thoughts on this?

I'm a Skoda Fabia 1.4 owner looking to get a family wagon.

So it's this or a Mazda6 (bit different I know)

The goal is a family wagon for road trips to Germany (1,000mile round trip)

Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated. I can't see any for sale with further miles than 144k so I'm wondering if it's on it's last legs already.

Tremendously powerful car though and at a bargain price (£1350)

Thanks in advance.

Phil

If it's a 1.8 180 brake VRS then it's a mk1. The mk2 is a 2.0 200 brake.

I wouldn't worry about a 144k 1.8t unless it's a smoker... Mechanically, if it drives OK and doesn't smell funny it probably is OK. Mine is on 142k with stupid boost (for a K03s anyway) and has never been anything short of perfectly reliable.

If its a mk1 144k is no problem buddy as long as its been looked after. I just sold my 1.8t vrs with 122k on the clock and it pulled like hell with very little oil use. If it's on its original clutch that might be ready for replacement as will wheel bearings. Shocks and springs are weak point on those too so best check for knackered shocks and snapped springs. Your in the wrong section though!!
