fabia reaction advice please

Featured Replies

Daughter seen a reaction, I know its not monte carlo

She likes colour, looks like primer to me.

Dealer is selling it, its a 13 plate registered in November 13, problem is its only done 3k mile but just had a service done by dealer now.

Hes saying its a variable service so warranty be ok still, I think otherwise,

I would of thought it would of needed a yearly service to keep warranty in place and its well over due.

He says with it having just less than 3 k, shouldn't  be  problem, I don't like word shouldn't.

Do these cars have timing chain issues? would it be underpowered as its only 70bhp,

I know these were supposed to be a good buy at time, if you could love the colour,

any pitfalls on buying this model, what would be a fair price to pay

3K's nothing, could be on variable service interval (time/ distance) I wouldn't be put off

have sent them a email just awaiting a reply, I thought they had to be serviced every 10k or yearly which ever come first.

Daft question but the discs on rear wheel look rusty, Im a girlie so nothing about mechanics

With being less than 3k, I don't know if its more of a hinderance, why use a car that little its not a formula one car, wonder is something wrong with it.

Theres no spare wheel which I find weird? cos the tyres should still be kind of new,

Any idea on price guide,

Some Fabs are on variable servicing which is different from the old 12 months / 10k formula - the car will have a service now message on if it's due - you can check how many miles / days are left until the next service is due.

The brakes will be fine - they always have a little layer of rust when not driven for a few days - a drive or two will clear them off.  Some Fabs don't have a spare - you can buy them seperately or just do without and get breakdown cover.

Have a look at autotrader for prices of what's around - you can pay for Parkers but they're not always accurate.

70hp is fine, but won't be sporty! I beleive the chain issues were sorted by 2013?  You'll still have some Skoda warranty left on the car too.

Link works thanks yeah it was on autotrader price around 7k mark, told could have it on pcp finance as low miles but its a late 2013 registered model.

I wouldn't normally go dealer mode if paying cash what should I aim for paying, I think they forget they were a bargain buy when new, how much reckon they depreicated. Parkers doesn't have a price for reaction.

Just trying to get a decent buy as have cash

Are these just a basic s model, its probably a hard colour to sell, looks unfinished to me but daughter thinks monte be out of her price range.

Just want to get a good decent car and warranty would be nice

It's sometimes a good idea to let the dealer think you are going down the pcp route, they often knock down the price of the car as they make decent money on the pcp. When you have agreed a price for the vehicle then say your circumstances have changed and you will pay cash....

he said they could do pcp on the used car as low mileage don't know at what rate though, I just hate dealers give you more bullxxxx with being a girl

The Reaction should not have Discs on the rear, is it the Drums that are rusty and need inhibitor painted on and then a coat of paint.? Servicing as per Manufactures Guidelines / Schedule so just Demonstrator milage and serviced should be Ok, just have Skoda confirm, they are clueless anyway.

As to the price of a Reaction, they were so cheap new, and sold so few you want a very good price now, if buying as a keeper it might be worth it, because in 2 years time you will get very little when selling it. If you like the Grey and black wheels and little power go for it. Check the insurance. The companies do not understand 'reaction' spec.

What would you say would be a good price, I know they were around 10k new its a marmite colour,

I don't really want to buy someone elses problem, I will check insurance if it aint listed prices wont be as competitive.

the dealer isn't skoda its Arnold clark which frightens me more.

It aint got a spare wheel but if it did would it be a matching alloy? also what brand tyres are used on them.

theres a few private but they asking price as if its a monte, I really like the citigo but she doesn't.

Drums yeah they look rusty to me wonder if been standing to long, discs are on the front lol

If it was your money what would you look for, typical daughter just going for looks, if it had 100k miles on clock and black and white she have it

I have an SE with the same engine on variable servicing, the service indicator came on at 15 months of age (5k miles), which seems fair enough as it has only done half on those miles fully warmed up. At the time I bought it the dealer had several pre registered Reactions sitting around and he tried to fob me off with one but I would never get past the colour of them. It's pretty much SE spec except it has no electric mirrors and the S spec seats. Only 68bhp so hardly fast, but more than adequate for town driving that I mainly do.

The rusty rear drums are a common issue on all VW group cars with alloy wheels, mine are starting to go but its purely cosmetic so I don't worry about it. Parkers value the car at £6k for a main dealer, so £7k is a bit steep imo.

ah thanks I couldn't see price on parkers book for the reaction, bet the reaction at the time was offered to you at a better price than the one you bought.

I wouldn't normally go to a dealer but there doesn't seem many being sold privately

ive just found parkers online. the reaction seems it was like a lemon, ive just valued a citigo 62 plate and that is worth more than the monte63 plate

I googled this to see the colour - can't see the issue - I like it!

its a marmite colour, you love it or hate it, value more around £6k according to parkers citigo residual value better

Bingo's Mk2 vRS in Meteor Grey at the Santa Pod Meet.   Nice.

It is abit marmite. I quite like it, although im not sure id like to own it that colour long term.

The 70hp really isnt a bad engine. Its not fast, but its not sluggish. I cruised to and from Tech1e's place yesterday, did 240miles at 70-80mph which is more effortless than youd think and got 53mpg average. The exact same mpg as i got a week earlier on the same run.

I wouldnt worry about the 3k and no service, itll be fine. Change the oil and maybe change the schedule to fixed servicing, depending on what suits you.

Just a case of getting the Dealer selling to be serious on their Asking Price and what they are going to get for a Marmite Car.

If they are getting no buyers at their crazy and actually greedy price, they might just have to do 'Much Cheapness', otherwise they will end up sending

it to Auction.

If it was a Demonstrator in its first 3 months / 3,000 miles they never paid much for it anyway.

Could be a bargain. Get it for the right price, and its essentially a very nearly new car, with a massive saving and 13 (or 63 by the sounds of it)

Thing that puts me off a demo car, is tha when i demo a car, its for a short run on a cold engine and the rev needle gets wizzed right round to the red in most gears to see what its like.

Its not a demo car , owner bought it November 13 , don't know why its got less than 3kmiles thought??  You don't know how its been driven. Parkers price is 6k dealer asking 7k, I think hes forgetting they were under 10k new

Do you know the Owner Bought it, ?

there were a few on Motability Lease,  several near me, and i know of 1 that was returned early.

& often a 'Management / Lease / Demonstrator is in an Individuals name and not the Dealerships or Skoda UK's ,  Finance Manager etc.
