BTCC is serious money though and difficult to get going, as a lot of private teams have found out. I think that the TRC series looks excellent and is a good step up from what has been done previously. Onwards and upwards Richard and all the best in your new endeavour.

Once TCR takes off in the UK it'll be interesting to see how it effects other series.

 

The BTCC is very expensive, with a huge fan base.  While it's Clio Cup support series uses a far more road based car but does have the kudos of being on the TOCA package.

 

Cost should not be that different to Clio Cup or high end Mini Championship.

 

Given the choice of Clios, Minis or TCR it should be a no brainer if it can get the exposure and fan base.  But that will take time.

350bhp TCR car with aero (effectively a slightly lower spec BTCC car) or a Clio/Mini largely based on a road car...

 

Interesting times ahead.

We sure were!

 

 

An amazing weekend at the last CSCC event of the year.
With 5 Fiestas taking part in the Tin Tops race and 3 in the night race we had a busy day.

 

The track was wet, greasy and extremely slippery after the recent truck racing, with about 20% of cars not finishing some races.

But all of our Fiestas finished every race.

 

 

We took the outright win in Tin Tops and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in class.
Then we took the win in the mixed night race too with all 3 cars in the top 10 out of 30 cars, 1st and 3rd overall.

 

 

Amazing results, top drives and huge fun with a great pit atmosphere.

Really can't thank everyone that helped out, worked on the cars, drove and ran support enough. Thank you so much, such a great team of people.

 

A brilliant way to finish the year.

Yes an interesting year coming up for sure.

Busy now working with TeamHARD to sort drivers etc...

 

TCR has amazing potential and I love the cars, but it's a slow burner at the moment.

New series, no deadlines for signing drivers coming and no lmit on grid spaces.

I think everyone is waiting to see who signs up before they commit.

I bet that can be a real headache when planning number of cars etc? What’s the deliver time like on the cars? If you get more interest closer to the start of the season will you have enough time to get the car?

TCR about 2 to 3 months as they come off a production line and sell worldwide.

So unless drivers decide by the new year it's going to be a rush or not viable, unless going used cars which is not my preference.

I dunno, I forget to read a forum thread for 8 months and it goes from CSCC tintops to BTCC involvement?!
As for drivers, I assume you need someone with financial backing? Not putting myself up for it before you ask (slower than team hard's Toby Davis!) For TCR would promoting drivers from within clios/vw cup etc for at least one seat be an idea?

BTCC funding is all sorted.

 

TCR we are not doing.  New series, no confirmed media package means it's not appealing to sponsors.

Currently one driver signed up that's bought a car with own family/business money.

 TCR series doesn’t seem to have lasted long then! Is this series effectively dead in the U.K. for the next 12 months then?

That's not my call to make.

We have pulled out for 2018 but plenty of other teams looking for people if drivers need a car...

The registration/race fees for the year are around £18k, reduced to £15k if you sign up before the end of the year.

With 10 days to go there is one driver registered.  I guess people don't want to commit to a £150k race series until they can see there are enough drivers to make it viable.

Bit of a catch 22 / chicken and egg scenario.

 

Shame really as it has potential and the cars are really good.

But it's actually more expensive per race than BTCC for a driver.  Especially as far easier to get sponsors in BTCC.

10 race days, 30 races opposed to 7 race days, 14 races.

About time to update for 2018.

 

Last year was just crazy.

Plan this year is to be a little bit more focused.

 

We have the Fiestas and a few other cars (Evora, Elan, Skyline for CSCC and the 2016 BTCC Avensis) but our focus will be on a small number of club races for fun and the BTCC.

 

We've worked wth TeamHARD for a couple of years now.

Having supported Jake last year and taken ownership of his VW CC, it was natural of us to fund the extra car the team wanted to run.

 

It's now a four car team, run by TeamHARD.  With two owned by TeamHARD and run as a pair for team points and the other two owned by Brisky Racing and run as a pair for points.

 

Jake is still with us for 2018, but we have also got Mike Bushell, who won Clio Cup last year, (for the 2nd time) on board so I personally think we have a strong line up.

The cars have been reworked significantly following the signing a new top level engineer.

The first test in cold conditions last week showed the car has improved in practically every way.

 

So a large part of what we do this year will be contributing and supporting the two Brisky Racing cars taking part in the BTCC driven by Jake and Mike.

 

Away from that we'll continue to do club level racing for fun, but I only expect us to do four or five events in 2018.

Mainly due to conflicts with BTCC dates and it not being cost effective to travel large distances with five or six cars for a series that doesn't have yearly points championships.  Which I prefer as anyone can drive the car at any round and there is no championship to worry about, leaving you to just go out and have fun with your mates.

 

Our VW CC BTCC cars are numbers one and four to be built, so it was Mike's car that was testing last week.  The first of our two 2018 spec Brisky Racing cars.

I was going to do one in the Spring, but another well known company we were going to do it with jumped the gun and set one up in March for more money.

Mine are always at cost.  With free garages.

So I ditched the spring idea.

 

I expect we will do another Autumn one to see the season out.

Fantastic work so far.  Will be great to see the team whipping ass on the track. Will have to come watch some races not been in years. My cousin was head mechanic for Barry Barnes in b class touring years ago so I used to attend a lot. Will be nice to go again and have someone to cheer on
