Yeah, as I suspected Autosprout almost ignored the one race I was actually interested in!

OK, now Jade Edwards has got the BriskieRacing logo on TV once, here's hoping she can do it again, by winning a race!

 

Plenty of Brisky Racing screen time there. Just not quite the way you'd have wanted.

Can't really see what happens from this but it looks like a coming together of some sort with the other car on it's roof in front of her. Rear tyre possibly shredded hence her being unable to keep going afterwards.

@Skoda_Saint - You can't see from this angle, but on the TV the LHF corner of Jade's car was a bit shredded.

She must have hit the barrier then, cause when she was sideways through the bend she was full face on to the camera and there was no damage to the front end of her car.  I reckon he's lost it, clipped her nsr wheel, hit the kerb at the kink and gone head over heels for her.  Either that or she's realised her tyre had gone, and had to lift off, he's swerved to avoid a collision and flipped it over the kerb if its where I think it is.  I reckon he overtook her on his roof.  Good effort that!

@Jaspire - Yeah, so far I haven't seen a single shot that shows the 2 of them getting together clearly: they're almost all "just too late" or cut away a fraction too soon.

What actually happened was another driver took a very late lunge down the inside of her into a corner before the video.

Something there was no space to do which involved him getting 4 points on his race license that afternoon.

This resulted in broken rear suspension which she felt approaching the next corner.

 

Hence she headed off track on the video with a broken car and another driver didn't allow for the speed difference and had rather a big moment.

The whole thing was caused by a driver not on the video that got 4 points for the incident.

 

Shame really as it put her out of the race, at the time of impact she had gone from 13th (IIRC) to 7th and was on for her first top 10 finish now she is getting used to the car.

There was damage to the rear corner of Jade's car and none to the front in the 2nd race which the video is of.

 

Plenty of Brisky Racing screen time there. Just not quite the way you'd have wanted.

Not much of a negative really.  Got the logo on TV!

Getting ready for Silvetrstone on Sunday now.

We are on the International circuit which is nice as I found the National a bit simple in terms of layout last year.

 

New Brisky screen banners going on...

 

 

And as my National A license has come through due to having finished 6 races now it's time to get the beast out.

Bit of last minute tweaking and we have a bit over 600bhp/tonne to the rear wheels.

 

 

My Fiesta is out alongside the Brisky ones too, but in CSCC a race win sees you get a 30 second extra pit stop time penalty so we'll have to see where we end up at the finish line!

Stops someone dominating like in a championship.

 

Going to be a busy Sunday!

I was close though, please tell me the upside down fella passed her on his roof!  Had all the hallmarks of a blues brothers crash.

She has been a bit unlucky with accidents so far, hopefully things will sort themselves out over the season and she can start pushing on.  The lassie can drive like.

@BossFox Thanks for the "what really happened". Given that the upside down guy wasn't hurt either, I have similar feelings to @Jaspire.

She can indeed.

Lack of testing didn't help.

 

She's jumped from GT rear drive to the Clios this year and total testing time due to a late signing meant half a day in the Clio before the first race.

Not ideal, considering she's never raced a front drive car before.

Engine problem first race, collapsed damper 2nd race, it's now starting to go the right was indidents and getting punted off aside.

 

Pace is there for solid top 10s with podiums in sight by end of year hopefully!

Eventful day at Silverstone yesterday, with plenty of ups and downs.

was still a good day out, but still quite a long one. Didn't get home til gone 11.

I'll leave it Richard to provide the race report

Race Report

Sunday 28th May 2017

 

Not such an early start with us being last race of the day with the Fiestas, new screen strips on and the cars looked great in the pits.

Four Brisky Fiestas running.

 

 

We were out for qualifying just after 11am, the Pink stripy car driven by Natalie decided not to play ball and sheared off the shaft coming out of the CV joint by the hub almost immediately.

Team Brisky set to work and this was quickly replaced by a new one but unfortunately not in time for qualifying which led to her doing some safety laps at lunch and was then eligible to start from the back of the race.

 

Then on the first lap of qualifying an error by the driver of the purple car saw it slide it's rear end out coming onto the main straight and impact on the pit wall, removing most of the front of the car.

Fortunately with all the safety gear used the driver was fine.

 

The other two cars put in respectable times giving them mid grid positions three slots apart.

 

 

Onto the race and a standing start.

Not a favorite with new drivers, we formed up for what seemed like a long time, then off and almost immediately into a reg flag incident at the front of the grid.

The waiting and then long restart caused us some overheating issues and sadly two cars were removed from the grid.

After cars overheating and the pre first corner crash the grid was reducing in numbers. Dan in the orange stripy car put in a good solid drive and came 15th overall and 4th in class out of an initial class of 8 Fiestas on his first time driving at Silverstone.

 

 

Our Super Touring Fiesta qualified well.

Richard went out and did 5 laps putting the car on pole despite overtaking four cars on his best lap, then swapped for the Jake the 2nd driver.

Two cars went quicker but Jake put in some stonking laps putting us in a safe pole position.

 

Time then to form up and then head out for the race at 5pm.

 

 

We were a little slow off the line on the start and dropped back a few places, the car alongside had the same issue.

This lead to bunching up and behind a Peugeot got turned sideways by a Honda, came across the track and wiped out the back quarter of our 53 numbered Fiesta before smashing into the pit wall.

The car was not fit for the restart, due to the bodywork being sharp and seriously fouling the rear wheel so it could hardly turn.  We had to trim it to load the Fiesta on the truck.

 

 

The Peugeot came off rather worse, hitting the pit wall head on after spinning us around and collecting a few cars.

 

 

Overall not the best day for us, but certainly a learning experience.

A big thank you to everyone who came along to help in the pits and with the cars, sadly we didn't get the results we deserved.

Ouch! Didn't get to see the aftermath on the fiesta. Any other damage underneath do you know?

An unlucky and expensive race for all concerned by the look of it.

 

Hopefully that will be the bad luck done for the season...though I doubt it.

Great report Richard, shame about the results, I guess that's racing for you. Any luck with the skyliner?

Silverstone International with the CSCC Special Saloons and Modsports series.

 

 

After testing at Brands hatch some time ago and doing 1 lap in drizzle on slicks (and coming off) then 4 or 5 laps in the wet on full wets we took the R32 race car out on Sunday.

Knowing I lacked any experience on slicks as never raced on them before, had minimal seat time in the car and was a bit nervous we decided to use it like a test day.

 

So 4 boost settings, stuck it in 4 (wet map, low boost) and went out in qualifying to see how it felt.
Got in 5 laps, steadily picking up the pace until an ECU safety trip stopped play half way through qualifying as I was bringing the times down, still in low boost.

We were 9th out of 19 cars at this stage which I was happy with considering low boost and still bring the lap times down as I got familiar with it.
A lot of time to find still as it's clearly capable.

 

 

We decided to play it safe rather than risk causing damage to something so more testing then another race on the cards at some stage.
Hopefully it's a sensor or ECU issue as was showing erratic oil pressure and at one stage let the car run but took away the throttle pedal.

Sounds promising, a glitch rather than a major issue. Nothing wrong with some low boost and sandbagging, keeps the competitors on their toes

Well done to Jade, both for the top 10, and for stripping the front bumper off the car at full race speed!

Not been on here as much as I would have liked, but big things happening at Brisky Racing.

 

Next year sees the start of a new UK Championship, using the TCR regulations already active in 14 countries since it started two years ago.

 

This is planned to fit between the Clio Cup and BTCC on a cost/car scale.

 

We are planning a three car team, with the first already built and due for collection from Germany this month.

 

we've gone for the VW Motorsport Golf GTI TCR car, well proven over the last year in many TCR series.
