3C8035730E - missing icons on maxidot

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Fitted a new 3C8035730E module to my car to replace a very old 5K0 module as my HFP modules gone into the wives fabia. Working really well with the WiFi AP setup and hotspot working.

I have noticed that the maxidot has some missing icons and showing underscores instead:

How do I go about correcting this? Everything else (inc voice control) works correctly.

Thanks

I wonder if they are unsupported graphics on these newer modules? RainbowFire (Alex) has just fitted this module to a pre FL Octy (which works courtesy of a polar FIS). Might be worth asking him if he has the same? I don't on my 08 Octavia but then I only have the D revision.

I hear someone mention my name? Nothing good I hope ;)

Seriously (for a change) my display is complete, no issues. I am using a PolarFIS Advanced (PF03), not just for getting the bluetooth working, but becuase there's a load of shiney shiney stuff that happens too. :) :) (Nothing, I mean nothing, has enough toys to play with.) Mine's a 07 plate, so even older than Adam's ;)

Adam, that looks like a BAP MaxiDot anyway (not the old skool DDP), so I'm not sure what compatilbility issues there could be. :S :S

Nathanio, is everything ok if you unplug the bluetooth unit?

Sure is, when I had the previous non rSAP unit in it displayed all the correct symbols. The only symbol it struggled with was the Roaming symbol when I lost 3s 3G signal and went to orange 2G

My point wondering if the new unit uses different graphics not supported by the older maxidot not so much the ddp/bap thing. But it seems not if Alex's older maxidot handles them. Still seems to be graphics related so I wonder if a factory reset will help?

On the module? It was brand new and still sealed (£90 delivered from Poland)

Coming back to this. I have just corrected the coding on VCDS as  it didn't have a workshop code in the coding. This has cleared an error I had on there but still no icons.

Is there any settings in the instrument section that might control this?

Thanks

It's down to the cluster software, it doesn't have the icons that are used by newer BT modules.

If you're lucky, there might be an update as there is for some Octavia clusters. Got a full autoscan?

Done a little more digging and at a guess probably has 3T2920841B running SW 0106. At least based off it being a '58 Plate Superb 1.8 TSI Elegance'.

If that's the case there is no obvious update for your cluster. There are reports that SW 01xx clusters can be updated to SW 0305 but I've never seen a flash file for it so I wouldn't put too much trust in these... Nor do I know if SW 03xx has the icons.

I think SW 04xx upwards should have the icons included and if not a cluster running SW 04xx can be updated to SW 06xx which definitely has the correct icons.

Thanks for the looking around. Here is the autoscan data:

There aren't any updates that I can see for the clusters you have I'm afraid. The only was that you're likely to sort them is to replace the clusters which is probably too much hassle with the immobiliser and odometer.

RainbowFire, any reason not to post the VIN? They are hardly secret as anyone walking past the car can get them...

I don't know the source, but it has always been said not to put VIN's up as part of a scan. Could be group paranoia, could be a legit reason......am only passing on what we've been told in the past.
