Very true about the mclaren, but i think for the time the individual components of the mclaren were way ahead. it was just a raw car, the bugatti seems a bit too twee and soft

true, but its the only production car with a 16 cylindar engine. the last one i remember was a chrysler concept car with a 13ltr V16 and 1000bhp but that was never going into production. By all accounts the veyron was supposed to be as focussed as the mclaren but changes in leadership changed its focus to more of a GT cruiser. Shame. Could have been the greatest car ever built.

I think it stil is. 235mph in sheer luxuary :)

The factory is a site to behold. These are built by hand a couple at a time in clinical workshops which are just beyond belief.

I think its the most technically advanced car ever built, because of the hurdles that everyone at VW Bugatti overcame to get there, but it doesnt fit the mould of previous world fastest cars. The McLaren and Koningsegg were raw fast cars, which fed all the senses of the true sense of speed you were actually doing (sounds mainly). The bugatti seems like just a fast Phaeton, with a more refined noise and gentler interior.

Oh yes the Bugatti thing ...

Nice and very impressive car ... I had a look in a car Magazine the last days

where they did the "highspeed ride" with 400Km/h

The details are very funny : to be able driving the 400Km/h you have to turn a second key when the car stands sitll. Afterwards there is a checklist for the driver, including things like : check the chosen route for obstacles and state of the surface, check tyres for damages and foreign objects, check if the front diffusor flaps are closed, etc. etc.

If you touch the brake pedal once after all, the car switches back to "standard mode" automatically, so you have to do all steps again.

I guess this will the first software change, customers are asking and searching for

And honestly: having 1.6 million Euros in spare for a car, I personally would go for a Saleen S7, or a competition Porsche ..

The money for a nice house with a large garage will be still over :D

It's just one of those cars though - awesome if you can get it on the track :D

Thats a W12.

Bugatti are the only company to have the W16 and its actually quite a different engine. (although VAG designed).

oh **** oops sorry lol

bugatti type 47 had a 16 cyl engine but dont think it made production in the end

and cadillac and marmon made 16 cyl engines too between 1930 ish and 1940

Wonder who the first person to tune it will be? sports exhaust, ECU remap :D
