Sachs SMF from techniclutch

Featured Replies

Chaps, I am currently awaiting a reply from techniclutch to clarify exactly what is sachs in this kit.

I'm not up to speed with clutches and I'm not sure what the important bit is in this kit that I would want to make sure is sachs. I am aware of the bad rep techniclutch have hence me being cautious. Price wise it seems very good.

Reason I'm looking to go smf is that I do 30k miles a year and don't want to be worrying about replacing a dmf again whilst I have the car.

Thanks in advance!

Just what Shark Performance call a stage one map so circa 170BHP. Don't know for sure though as never been on a rolling road.

tbh the only other single mass I've actually heard is a borg and beck, my m8 got the kit in his golf running 240bhp for about 1 1/2 yrs with no problems and no rattle what so ever! I'm considering whipping my helix out and fitting this kit with flywheel the kit retails at £440 but I can get it for £380 trade I drove the golf (170k) and the clutch was faultless

Well a mate of mine is fitting a valeo smf kit from euro car parts this weekend in his stage one fabia so going to have a blast in that at work next week and see what it is like. Only reservation I have is that the valeo is slightly lower rated I believe?

For me it's more about longevity than noise. I don't really thrash my car anywhere if I'm honest lol. The remap was more for driveability and fuel economy which it has improved no end.

the borg and beck drives like stock with no rattle and a 2 yr warranty

Hi guys, old topic, but I'm after the clutch kit from the dreaded Techniclutch. Seems too good to be true which 99% always is. Have any of you used them?

cheers

A few people had good experiences with them and others have had a nightmare so your bravery is noted, I wouldn't risk it myself since it's a remanufactured product and quality control seems rather hit and miss to say the least.

Just my 2 pence, I've been told by the garage I take my car too, that they can cause damage to gearboxes, despite what the manufactures say.

From what I've heard they are standard parts painted red, to make them look upgraded.

A mate of mine had one fitted for less than a day before it failed

Yeah absolutley ahocking company, stage 1 clutch for my Escort RS Turbo couldnt even handle the power of a standard ERST without slipping!! Wouldnt touch em with a barge pole

Not really the pd100 fabia has a solid flywheel from the factory so I'm kinda guessing vw wouldn't be fitting them if it did any damage to the gearbox really.

The PD100 has a totally different design gearbox though compared to the 6 speed in the vRS

I was after the Sach organic one, but I'm going to leave it. When the clutch will need changing I'll probably get the Helix one from Awesome GTI...
