Blutooth mic and gsm antenna location pre fl

Featured Replies

Just fitting my Bluetooth kit, I am going to try and fit the Bluetooth module behind the glove box but have no idea where the mic and antenna for phone should go.

Perfect all done, thanks langers.I knew I upgraded that interior light for something

I just peeled an inch off the tape Mike in case I relocate it and did what langers said for now top corner of the windscreen and ended up putting the module under the seat.Didn't realise I had to take the seat out! On the plus side while glovebox was out managed to fit an antenna to ccm for central locking. Need to find some way to secure the module better as I have just used some shallow self tappers into the carpet for now. Now have phone in maxidot so think I'm at my limit in there.I have no fog lights so lighting is pointless and convenience I probably have nothing to operate...

Can anyone tell me what the maxidot gprs menu is for? It asks me to select letters but no idea why. Also been speaking to Mr Holroyd about voice control.I have the option on maxidot to assign voice tags to names in my phonebook, I recorded one and it plays back fine.I cannot however use voice control as my steering controller doesn't seem to support using the mute button and the I button on Columbus just tells me that navigation isn't active. Slim chance I know but does anyone have a workaround that doesn't involve a new controller. I have tried in vcds to activate by using the 3 in place of 2 in coding but I get an out of range error.not holding out much hope as Mike thinks it needs a new steering controller and he's generally right on such issues, worth an ask anyway.

There could be an issue with the steering controller re the mute button, but the mic also needs to be routed via the Columbus to enable it.

Has your BT loom got little white plugs? If so switch them around as this does the routing.

If no white plugs, there is some useful info here (Phil-Es post with pinout diagram especially)

hehehehe "voice control". When you've finished shouting at the car, it's quicker to use the buttons. ;)

I got my BT unit in behind the glovebox, mainly because it didn't come with the foam thingy, and so I didn't have to route the cables down the centre. ;)

I too put mine behind the glovebox.

I put the Antenna behind the side trim along the windscreen.

GPRS settings inside maxidot are there so that (in theory) the Bluetooth module creates a GPRS connection to your network then you can connect via Bluetooth DUN (Dial Up Networking) from your phone to get an internet connection back.

No phones support DUN anymore though and even if you could get it working GPRS is only as fast as an old Dial up connection and would be useless anyway.

I use the voice control on the Columbus and it works well.

The Bluetooth module also has it's own separate voice control.

On the Columbus you press the voice control button and depending on which screen you have it on you have to say "Phone" first to get it to switch to the phone menu.

Cheers folks, I have the white cables so will try switching them. I likely spend more time in the car than I do inside the house lately so it seems only right I should talk to it. Makes more sense than the missus too.

The only problem I have with using the "Premium" (rSAP) setting is that any text messages stay in the car not in the phone. Because of this, I've dropped the premium options (even switching SMS Function off in VCDS didn't help) and just use it as a bog-standard hands-free/streaming device.

I think voice control has it's use and is probably better for the phone than the headunit itself. I've got the most needed numbers on the speed-dial screen on the RNS510 :)

I think my module is rsap only and I don't mind texts staying in the car as I use whatsapp for 90% of my conversations.the only texts I seem to get lately are for for ppi or accident claims.

In any case, they can usually be moved to your main phone by managing sim messages under settings when the phone is disconnected.

Today, I have learned something new. :)

Thanks Adam :)

Is that in the phone or Columbus or Maxidot?

In the phone.

Messages --> settings --> text messages --> Manage SIM card messages.

Mine doesn't have move, so it'll be copy and delete.

Will think about returning to premium mode later. ;)

Yes actually mine is only copy and delete too.

If you have a rooted android phone using the rSAP app then there is also a plugin you can get that automatically copies the texts over to the phone for you.

Mine isn't rooted as my banking app won't allow it annoyingly. The m8 did fortunately work right away with only issue being a slight hum on the side of the other party.

I was running CM12, but rSAP support is awful for it (i.e non-existant), so went back to stock to get rSAP back.

What rSAP app are you referring to?

Ah now, having gone from HFP to rSAP, the car and the phone spend their time disconnecting and reconnecting. (have removed everying from everything and factory reset the BT unit).

Have returned to HFP now, and things are absolutely solid.

Are you on 3 Alex? I ask as there is a thread on the Superb 2 forum which suggests a 3 sim can be a bit temperamental in rSap mode.

No, is O2 here. Not a big deal really, as long as I can make and receive calls, everyone else can use their own data contracts ;) ;)

I think I might have sussed my connect/disconnect issue:

I use a program call Agent (does a few "triggered" tasks). It seems that this interferes with the rSAP function for some reason. Time will tell :)

Er no. That didn't work :(

My O2 chip in my SGS2 works a treat, I had rSAP connection for an hour (the entire time I was in the car)

I swapped back to my Note3 (factory reset, minimal apps) and the rSAP connection resets every 2mins. HFP - no problem.

going to try my SGS3 or my son's SGS5 later.

I think I must have been lucky, are you running lollipop as someone said earlier that rsap only worked on the m8 after the update. I'm on virgin mobile but I am using the t mobile network. Not sure that's useful info but thought I'd post it anyway. My connection is faultless, I even got a call when my missus had my phone in her bag and was in the doctors surgery while I was in the car park.
