I'm saying goodbye..

You don't need to leave, many of us on here no longer own a Skoda, or even a VW group car. I've not had one for nearly 3 years now.

Many thanks,

Yes I will still keep my eye on you all of course :giggle:  I'm just saying goodbye to  brand ownership really.

Harry

Have fun, and that is a lot of car you got, and very comfy.

catch you.

nice looking motor, looks nice and clean. Am I correct in thinking that the rover 75 was built in the UK at two different car plants. The ones with the black sills are made in one plant and the 75 with colour coded sills were build at another location

or have I been dreaming

No you're not dreaming ;)  The black sills were on the earlier Cowley built cars and the others at  Longbridge. There were said to be some rust issues on the Cowley cars and it is usually said Longbridge cars were better built, but you can find lots of argument about this. There are still some lovely Cowley cars owned by enthusiasts, though I must say I'm not a fan of black sills on the Rover as I think they look clumsy.

Remember it well Brian, I was a cool dude in those days

That's quite a car change, but can understand your logic.

And that KV6 is a nice unit - smooth and a nicer V6 noise :)

Enjoy

A Beige Bullet, eh?

Rumour has it they can do 100mph over the Tay Bridge from Dundee after late night trips to hospitals...

Horkin, glad you found a motor you like. That looks a cracker. I don't want you to go so do stay around. Your posts are friendly and insightful. You must stay...there's no getting away from us you know!! On this site, we have a particular set of skills, we will find you, and we will talk to you...lol! Liam Neeson says it better but he kills people once he's found them!! We don't do that. I too don't do many miles now. I've had two pretty bad spells in hospital, the last one at the begining of the year concerning my heart after I was taken ill. I've slowed a bit now so I too have sold all my cars except my Skoda and of course, I keep riding my motorcycle which my surgeon says is good for my heart unless I slam into a brick wall at 100mph! So I know where you are coming from. Good luck with the car and enjoy. Speak soon.

the 75 is a much underestimated car, the V6 is lovely, ans its one of the best riding cars available, even now!

Thanks mate, we do have a nice bit of banter on here so I will keep in touch. I just decided to get a runabout and when I saw this and how good it was I couldn't resist.

Having owned a '75 some years back it has always been a nice car to me. I know some think they are too retro and a bit pipe and slippers but that's the sort of comment anyone could say about me these days and be SPOT ON. :giggle:

Thanks for the nice comments

Harry.

Thanks mate,

Yes they are still a lovely ride. The V6 is a corking engine as regards being so very smooth and responsive and sounds heavenly. :sun:  My previous BMW 5 series 2.8 would leave it for dead but the V6 is just so effortless in everything it does. MPG is great on the motorway, I did a 200 mile round trip to Yorkshire last week and got mid to high 30's with cruise set on 70. Still close on 3/4's of a tank left when I returned. Reliability is good providing the service schedule is met. It's all I need really.

Looks like the garage I traded at has sold my Fabia and I'm not surprised. Someone got a bargain.

1.2 Tsi Elegance with all bells and whistles, full service history and 18,500 on clock.

He had it on for £6995, didn't move in 4 weeks so he dropped it by 1K.!!!! to £5995 and it's gone. All I can think of was it's yellow and they can be a bit harder to shift but it seems awfully cheap to me.

Harry.

It's a dramatic change Harry - the two cars are absolutely the polar opposite in every way I can think of.

I once had a BRG MGZT and if I'm honest I'd didn't get on too well with it. I think they have aged really well though.

Horkin the 75 is a beaut and agree that it's very unfairly knocked, very underrated car I love them great looking cars and if you get a good one its a keeper ! All the best with it and hopefully not to many hospital visits

Thanks for that, they have a huge following still and the 75 & ZT forum is a busy site. They are after all the last car Rover built and to me there is nothing quite like them.

I can understand Wakey saying he didn't get on with the MGZT as for me the firmer suspension and sharper ride doesn't quite work and I believe takes the pleasure out of the '75 which was built for cruising and comfort. I must say though the MG versions fully loaded look the dogs.
