Ordered from my local dealer in the end. I knew there was no hope of any dealer matching NCD but this offer was half way between and it was a gut feeling I wanted a local dealer order. So there we go, order placed.

That's just mad.... i order 3 weeks ago and get a September build and yours is Jan !

I think the more extras on it the longer the wait

 

on ordering mine was week 41 then it slipped to week 52 now at week 47 but not confirmed

Did you have a confirmed build date ? I would love to know the secret of the build dates..... Ordered Aug 24th and built next week...

Dealer didn't give confirmed build date. He said he expected it to move forward from the original date he gave. Seems it's all flexible

It generally is quite flexible as some dealers will have pre agreed build slots / quotas and depending on whether they have orders to put into them or have the ability to order vehicles to sell, the slots will be released to other orders. So orders can and do change in the system.

 

Parts supply will also have a bearing on when orders will be built.

Mine too...ordered end of July and has always been unconfirmed build week 45....delivered December.

A week or so ago my dealer said they'd had no official notification of any delays. They did however say that some lead times were currently 'a little longer than usual for some derivatives, mostly autos'. 

I actually hope my order is delayed. Thanks to SWMBO loving the test drive it's been ordered with a cash settlement a little earlier than I anticipated - and I'm still saving up! A timely delivery will just mean a little dip into my mortgage overpayment at 2.5% so at least it's not worse than a finance deal It does sound like this car is a very popular chioce so maybe not so much of a bad move after all.

DSG ordered here... so could be the reason.

Spoke to my local dealer on Sunday (not where I ordered the S3) and asked for current lead times... he said 12 weeks from order.

I then asked him how long to boil an egg... he said 12 weeks from order.

So we know who had the last gearbox off the pallet then

I'm guessing that the gearboxes aren't unique to the Superb so maybe that's not a valid reason at all, unless there's the same issue with Octavias at the moment?...
