Dynavin DVN-IN001VWG with Bolero

Featured Replies

Hello. I want to put this unit into my new (1000 km) Octavia Scout 135kW car. Has somebody installed this module? Is a coding needed? What is Skoda dealer's opinion about warranty validity? I have 5y/150000km warranty and don't want to lose it. If you have some experience in this field, please share it.

This is something I've been looking for since I bought my car.

I didn't want to pay the stupid price Skoda wanted for the Amundsen or Columbus units, but this looks just the job, fully integrating with the Bolero head unit.

Of course I assume it will be suitable for the Bolero as fitted to the VRS.

I'm afraid if something will go wrong with car electric/electronic system (even unrelated to Dynavin), the dealer will void manufacturers warranty arguing that something was done wrong when installing, unpluging/pluging connectors.

Now I investigate the possibility to use a Garmin Caravan 760LMT-D with wireless camera BC20. The only point where I will have to connect to my car is reverse lights wires.

I think your car needs to be recoded (VCDS) if you plan to feed the camera from the reverse lights.

Otherwise you will have a disturbed picture or nothing at all.

Other option is the rear wiper motor but the camera will be always powered with ignition on.

I have chosen the reverse lights option and recoded the reverse lights to "allgemeine led" to get pure 12V instead of PWM signal.

I wonder if this could be a route to retrofitting Car Play etc?

Hi. Can somebody tell me what could be the max. pulse width at low level in PWM signal? The relays I intend to use have 10-15 miliseconds delay for switching off. Will it be enough for holding connected contacts, when PWM signal's pulses feed the relay's coil?

"Deeper into the forest more trees" - my primitive translation of Lithuanian proverb.

Where the reverse lights PWM signal goes from? What is the type of output which generates PWM signal? Is it protected from opposite voltage which is generated by coil's magnetic field at the moment when PWM signal goes to low state? Is it necessary to connect in parallel a diode to relay's coil to protect car's electronics from damage?

One of your advices was to connect to 12V on rear wiper motor. As I understood no coding is needed, there is a pure 12V when ignition is on. Are you sure? Why constant 12V is needed for rear wiper?

What could go wrong if camera powered all the time when ignition is on? Garmin's BC20 (wireless transmitter and camera) consumes only about 150 mA. Garmin navigation has an icon for rear camera view, so the rear picture could be switched on/off any time on the screen. This can be useful not only when driving backwards. Is there a risk of camera's sensor quality degradation in the longer term if the camera is turned on all the time when driving?

I think PWM is used for controlling incadescent bulbs (like reverse light). So you will be okay with the power from the wiper motor.

About continuous operation of the camera (and wireless transmitter)...you should ask the manufacturer.

I have a cheap chinese camera and I didn't want to power it all the time. That's why I chose the reverse light (with VCDS coding).

Kenwood do a module based system now, runs Garmin navigation and is activated by pressing the media button I believe.

Looks really neat and expect the nav being garmin based will be better than the OEM capability other than the lack of maxidot integration. Expensive to buy and then the cost of fitting too...also I expect id you then go on to encounter any infotainment issues that SUK might refute any warranty claim.

I think that's the system that Skoda Dealers can now retro-fit and doesn't effect warranty because it's fitted by them.

I popped into my supplying dealer last weekend to enquire, £599 fitted.

Thats not too bad, though at that money I think I'd rather the Amundsen and benefit from the better OEM integration.

Trouble is you can't retro fit either Amundsen or Columbus into the 5E platform (or so I'm led to believe) so that seems a viable option.

I went back to the dealers again this morning to book the car in to have it fitted, they have already ordered one for stock after I inquired, however he said there's 400 on back order throughout the VAG group as a whole.

Sounds like a popular choice/ add on.

According to my dealer and VAG-tec you can retrofit the Columbus but I don't know if it's the most recent version (it's been updated recently, hasn't it?) Costs upwards of £1500, can't remember the exact price. They tend to offer the Kenwood almost immediately as a cheaper option.

I haven't bothered chasing up the dealer as I got a cracking deal at Halfrauds last week, somebody had priced up a just released Garmin Satnav at £119.99 instead of £179.99 (the £119.99 was last years model), fair play to them they still sold it to me, needless to say though the price ticket was removed from the shelves before I'd left the building!
