What did you do to your bike today?

Featured Replies

There was a Guy at work when I was at Grimsby and he had an R1 fitted with track tyres and spent most of his time on track rather than riding roads.  He commented one day on the size of my chicken strips.  When I asked him if he thought that made me less of a man than him he didn't really know what to say.  I ride my bike how I want to and do not feel intimidated by others who like to think that because they can get their knee down (or mark the knee slider with an angle grinder) they are biking Gods!

I have also picked up several of this sort because they are not quite as good as they thought.  When I say picked up I mean they were picked up by an Ambulance and I was left to find out how it happened and knock on the door of their nearest and dearest to tell them the bad news.

End of the day we are all enjoying what we do on bikes and that should be enough really but bike snobbery is rife.  Chicken strips or no chicken strips means sod all to me as long as you do what you enjoy and with safety.

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

Aha. True that!

My mate is always commenting about how he gets his knee down everywhere.. Its only when you comment on his crash rate that he shuts up.

Hes crashed every bike hes had atleast once.

He even slid off a 30mph limited 50cc moped once. How do you even manage that?

YUP hahaha

Actually got out on mine today for a change.  We have just picked up the new car and I chose to go out on the bike because I have missed it.  Not far and not for long but a ride on the bike has improved my day immeasurably.

Filled the tank up with fuel, filled the scottoiler, checked the oil, packed the panniers full of stuff

All ready to pilot it for a long day tomorrow (:

Bed time now haha

Could be worse :D.

Had another two hour lesson, bought a new jacket with some high vis, changed the air filter and gave the bike another clean!post-75867-0-47129600-1442668325_thumb.jpg

Renewed the Insurance.  Was with MCE so rang them last night as they were dearer than Hastings on MCN compare.  Hastings wanted £500 voluntary excess and £250 and MCE wanted £500 voluntary and £750 compulsory.

So that was one of the things I wanted to check to see why their compulsory excess was so much.  MCE actually rang me back as I was on a mobile so that was good and the lady was very friendly and polite.  So far so good.  She went through all of the questions and to be fair nothing had changed from last year.  She came back to me an whipped through the bits and pieces and shot past the bit about total excess.  I 'thought' I heard her say total excess was £2000!  So I stopped her and asked her to repeat that and she did.  She could not tell me why all of a sudden they wanted twice as much compulsory excess on the phone as they did on line.

At this point I stopped her in her tracks and told her that I could not and would not buy at that price.  So I went on line and bought off Hastings again as I was with them the year before last.  Why is there no loyalty bonus with these companies?  Mind you even with Hastings the on line quote from MCN was less than they charged me by £7 for the year and then when I had done it all because it was close to the deadline MCN compare emailed me again and the price from Hastings was even cheaper than I paid!!!!!

Got kicked out of a pub LOL.

Not on the bike strictly, but i did ride 10 hours yesterday to get here. Then got told to leave (basically "**** off" as we arent local). Bit annoyed at that but fair play, its their community.

So off to Amsterdam tomorrow after the BSB. Sorta splits up the ride back n should be better from there on in.

I can taste the beer already...

Typical Brits abroad!  Keeping up with Foreign relations.  At least it looks like the racing will be good but then if you don't follow it normally you won't know who anyone is and what is at stake.  Guess you are just along for the ride.
