Superb brakes not superb at all!

Featured Replies

2014 170 tdi dsg 4x4. Never had so good brakes on a car before!

My4 x 4 brakes are really poor , it's done 13k and you really have to tread on the pedal to get it to stop. There's no way I could get the abs to cut in. I drove the Mrs captur and at the end of the road I nearly went through the windscreen.

I'm waiting for its first service so I can complain that's if I haven't crashed it before ;-)

I have the 140 and my brakes are fine. Compared to the MK1 they "stop" on a sixpence. :D

There must be a common problem or perception for several people to have an issue with their brakes.

I just moved from a V70 D5 AWD to a 2014 170 tdi 4x4 dsg. What a difference. In tests the Superb stops in 35.9m from 60mph and the V70 did it in 39m.

generally, VW brakes are over-servo'd and a bit grabby when new so the OP is right in being concerned.

In the back of my mind there is an adjustment for "Brake Assist" within VCDS.  It's not outside the realms of possibility that it is on the wrong setting ex-factory.
