Yamaha/Honda 125

Ok, if I was in that position I'd put the money available for a 125 into another days training & test. If you've got as far as mod 2 it's the final hurdle, all the crappy bits are done!

YBR125 put me off biking :p Did 1700 miles on it in a year, 6months it must have been out of use.

I'd get something else!

While I'd not want to use one all day every day or for a long commute, I really enjoy it when I ride my lad's YBR. It reminds me of all the fun I had on bikes when I was 17; throttle wide open all the time, being really careful to pick lines and braking points to maintain momentum...

...and knowing that this fun was costing virtually nothing :-)

I like the look of them, but they cost so much.

Why do people spend so much on 125's? Theyre all under 15bhp anyway so not gonna be too far apart?

Because if you get a decent one and look after it, you can pretty much sell it for what you bought it for when you have done your test.

That and you're not as likely to have to push a Honda home as a Chinese copy.

I think the captive market of kids who want to just CBT it up and ride keeps the prices high.

I agree with this. I'd still have a 125 at some point. I want a TW125 like I had at 17, just to play about with really. They're just very limiting, longer trips on faster roads become tiresome, no power to get out of trouble yadda yadda. Although I still say if I was wanting to do my direct access that I'd get a 5/600 to build experience, there's only so much you can learn at 50mph and going from a training schools Fazer with 100bhp to a 15bhp 125 will get boring very quickly.

I wasnt refering to a chinese one, i hate the things.

I had a 2005 Honda CG when i was starting. Bought it for £1150 with 500 miles on and sold it with about 20k on for £1300 a few years later.

The point i was tryna say, is why splash all the cash on a Ktm Duke or Yam YZF when performance wise all 125's are feable and slow anyway. There isnt much between their feableness.

17 year olds wanna look cool innit. Get more pussy on a 'super sport' YZF R125 than a CG125. :D

Ah right, with you on that. Don't know to be honest, suppose it's just down to what floats your boat. I wouldn't have a bike that wasn't a Honda, but my mate says the same about his ktm.

Well thats true i guess haha.

Theyre better off just getting the test done and getting something with wider tyres than a wheelchairs, but there we go. Each to their own haha.

True that. We all think in different ways (:

I like hondas too, which is why ive got the vfr atm, but bikes are like women.. You need to test the field and see whats about before you settle down with one.. So im not sayin i wont have anything else haha.
