Do MY16 cars have a CD Player

Featured Replies

And how do you know that that is the only document dealers received?

It has been common knowledge for some time that MIB2 units would not have CD players, it was getting the fact officially confirmed that was the hard work.

The brochure does state that specifications are subject to change, so legally you don't have a leg to stand on.

The only way you will get any resolve is by opening a case with Skoda UK and seeing what they are willing to do about it to keep a customer happy.

It isn't good news, but Skoda are likely to respond with the fact that the unit now has a larger screen, and also that for some customers the Bolero was upgraded to an Amundsen FOC.

Admittedly, the communication on this has been shocking.

I would have though a threat to reject a car and not accept delivery would get someone listening fairly quickly.

The brochure can say what it likes as it does not form part of the contract, the contract I signed is accompanied by a detailed spec of the MY15 vehicle I ordered.....

I am speaking to SUK and they are to come back to me.

I think you should all complain I know I will be. I use my cd every day.

Does your actual order form state CD player on it?

Does it say anything in the Ts&Cs about specifications are subject to change?

I must have handled 500+ New car orders when I worked in the trade, and a detailed specification never formed part of the contract, and I haven't seen it on any of my personal new cars either.

I'm not trying to be awkward, just trying to offer advice from many years in the trade. If your order form with yours and the dealers signature on it states explicitly that the car came with a CD drive then you can take them to the cleaners :)

Yes it does on both counts.

The dealer realises this and asked me if I was going to accept the car as the dealer will not accept the car next week if I don't want it.

But would you in a VW with the equivalent of the Amundsen?  Would be curious to know that.

I believe all the VW units have cd or dvd capability.

And the t's and c's neglected to mention changes to spec so the beneficiary in a contract when an error or omission is made is the party who didn't draft it.

So the order form states it has a CD drive and specifications are subject to change?

If so, either reject it or decide what compensation you want. Not much more you can do.

It states has CD drive. No mention of subject to change.

Sorry, posts crossed over. If there is nothing about specs subject to change then you hold all the cards!

I know that, the dealer knows that and SUK were left speechless when I backed them into a corner Tuesday when the penny dropped.

So what do you want out of it?

Compensation or a car with a CD drive?

The only way you will get a CD drive is with a Columbus, be interesting to see what they come up with to resolve.

Not sure, they asked the same and I left the ball in their court so see what they are saying tomorrow.

Be interested to see exactly what it said on your order form to state "cd player" will need to check mine to see if I can get anymore free stuff [emoji14]

That is a fair point regarding the "free" upgrade to the Amundsen, but in my case I have paid for an upgrade to the Columbus based on, in part, its ability to play DVDs - we spend a fair amount of time sat in the car with the younger kid waiting to pick up his older brother. If I had been aware of the changes to the Amundsen and the removal of the cd player then I would have saved my money or used it for a Canton upgrade.

Again, I have no issue with the removal of the cd drive - times change. What I object to is that I feel I have been missold an upgrade.

You need to be clear on what you see as a satisfactory resolution. If you are prepared to wait why not go down the route of supply me the same car with Columbus and honour the price to change.

That is by far the most expensive route for Skoda UK so I would start from there.

Andy,

Sorry, I am a little confused now. Does the Columbus still come with a CD drive?

But the Amundsen couldnt play DVDs and the Columbus still has a DVD drive doesn't it?

As far as I was aware, it was just the Bolero and Amundsen that lost the optical drive. I may be wrong though .....

I don't know - when I rang the dealer he said it wouldn't come with a CD/DVD drive, but a few people have suggested that the Columbus retains the drive. The brochure says that it does, but then the brochure says that the Bolero and Amundsen have CD drives so I don't really trust them!

I hadn't thought about pressing for Columbus. Would it retrofit do you think to save waiting?

No chance of a retrofit - they don't know how to do it at a dealer level, but you could always ask SUK!

See what they say
