Aircon goosed - fault-finding tips?

Featured Replies

I have a 2003 ALH TDi estate.

Thinking the turbo had cut out, I killed and re-started the engine on the move with the aircon engaged. It's not worked since, which was a pity as I was less than half-way through a 1,000 mile trip in temps up to 36C.

Leaving it alone has not worked. It's nice to have, and was pretty cold when in use, so I'd like to fix it.

Any thoughts on where to start, or is this for a pro?

Given your description, I'd look and see if the compressor is turning over with the temperature set to full cold. If it's not, then the problem is the pulley clutch being stuck open.

Beyond that, I suspect VCDS or an automotive aircon specialist.
