Review: H&R Monotube Coilovers

Featured Replies

Sits perfectly in my eyes! I'm surprised it's that much harder as normally H&R are renowned for their comfort?

Looks great!

So am I. As a matter of fact before going for this kit I read a few reviews saying that these are only slightlly harder than stock ones. But it apperared to be much harder. Of course as I mentioned before roads are very uneven in my country.

Nice little review, but in the interests of my wallet please can this be removed!! (JOKING)

Looks spot on there Widzia, what sort of price did it set you back?

Completely concurred! I now dislike this thread (well my wallet does anyway).

Widzia - your car looks really good! I also love how you think the UK roads are in good condition too!

No idea why anyone would want to fit coilovers, if as you say, your roads are worse than ours. Especially with your thoughts of considering reverting back to OEM.

Unless, of course, it's your track toy - then it'd all make sense!

Looks phenominal on the coilovers, also wish I'd went for a wilder colour now as well ha.

Looks great!

I wonder only what happens when you load it with people and luggage?  :D

Small update:

Yesterday I raised my Octavia by 20mm (I got a WRX STi, so I passed my RS to my wife - she needs more practical stance). And to my big surprise the suspension became much softer than I expected to be. Meanwhile the stance remains decent. So generally it has a 40mm drop and rides softer than STI.

Picture needed at 40mm drop!!! ;)

Nice review -  thanks for posting.

As above, i was also surprised around the comments you made on ride quality.  I had monotube coilovers on my mk2 vRS and found the ride as good as, if not better than stock.

A suspension upgrade is on my list of "wants" for when i get my mk3 but i have not decided yet which way to go.. coils or springs/dampers.

Can you post some more pics at the revised height?  Thanks.

That looks very nice, have you fitted spacers to the front and rear to change the offset of the wheels? If so, what size spacers have you used?

Looks superb, what spacers do you have on ?

There are two options to this H and R coilovers

Up To 985kg

From 986kg

Which kind is more suitable?

On the label between front and rear right doors writes

980kg FA

930kg RA

Car looks fab in Sprint Yellow. Had a Mk.1 VRS Octavia in yellow and loved embarrassing Porsche 924 drivers. UK roads pretty poor where I live and too many speed humps in my locality to drop the suspension but appreciate it's a good look.

Been looking at coilover options myself now. Finding the oem shocks and hr springs combo a bit naff.

Are the hr monotube fairly comfortable then? They use oem top mounts Don't they?
