to be honest im not sure i am lol

im sure mine is fooked lol

:D

Managed to squeeze about 120 out of my 146 mph octavia with bits falling off.

Even the man in the boot was screaming "I canny givve ye nae morrrre Captain we're doin warrp 10" :D

On testing the new FMIC to a speed which will not be said I pulled the plastic under tray off!

I too broke the warp 10 barrier

I am just over 2k with mine now, and i am getting to the 120 pretty quickly. Up to the first 1k 110 was achieved then it felt like hitting a wall, so its definately loosening up a bit.

But who needs top speed anyway, i enjoy getting to 80-90mph quickly thats real world at the end of the day, keep pushing above that, your number will eventually come up, thats up on the cops computers. :)

So that's what the Octavia drivers do with that boot space - fill it with Star Trek personnel :P

Are you expecting to have a rocket of a car, just cos that is what a lot of people on here say it feels like?

Mine didnt start to really feel like it was doing what i expected of it till aroud 12 k miles, the mpg then started to increase very slowly, and found that my torque band was 2k rpm - 3700 rpm, when it apperard to run out of urgency, but till kept pulling to 4100 rpm, then on it seemed to take an eternity after that.

Don't know about the Fab vRS, but I reach 200km/h pretty easily with my car. Then it works its way slowish to 215km/h.

MPG is now stable from what I can tell, first service made a good difference.

Certainly would agree anything over 85 mph will attract attention of the law on the motorways, anything over 100 mph is basically risking allsorts. I'm not a saint by all means, but it is a calculated risk you take on a personal basis :P

I do find that if I want to hit the top speed 'relatively quickly' you need to rev up high in 4th and 5th first, otherwise it tends to struggle to gain further in 6th.

Still, the number of times I've actually tried to hit the top speed is very far and between - I may pull through to figures I shouldnt but then I tend to ease back down again to something a little more sensible - I need my license ;)

At 4k on a '05 plate I hit 120 mph (200kmph) easily, then it slowly crawls to 130 mph or thereabouts.... (all indicated) Am constantly impressed by the way speed piles on. I have already noticed that the engine is getting even more flexible (and pulling longer at the end of the rev range) and am sure things will keep getting better.

MPG is a different matter though - then again, am not exactly trying for mega score on that front  .........

mines done 28k now and im sure it would struggle to do 110

No complaints for my 05 plate Fabia VRS. Did 110mph once while being chased by undesirables and it seemed to get there with no probs. I have no desire to push it any harder than that. I will say tho that some days it seems quicker than others possibly down to environmental reasons like wind speed and heat/cold

Just out of interest, all you chaps who have been on a private road , getting it to the highest speed possible

Have you done this with the use of a road angel or other device to check on speedo inacuracy and see what speed its really doing??

hmm well I posted a while ago asking whether the performance of a vRS will get better as it piles on the mileage (as the car was brand new)' date=' because i wasn't convinced it was as quick as I remembered.

Is this normal? QUOTE']

I had two vrs's and the dealer was at pains to point out to me that the performance will not be fully realised until after about 9000 miles ........ of course you dont notice the difference as it is a gradual change over time , but when I traded to my second I couldnt believe how tight the engine was compared to the one I handed in .

Give it some time .

Ogs

I found after the 10k service the car had better pick up. Do they de-tune the engine for the run in period?

Mine is fitted with a GPS unit. The said test driver on a private runway clocked 127mph before running out of runway, he did say it was still pulling

*cough* indicated 150+

had 135 out of it when it was standard..

PAH! Still slower than a 1.4 16v Octy :haha:

I was clocked doing 105 and the speedo was out by 0.5 mph according to the nice police officer - I say nice as I didnt loose my license ;) - and that particular day was not on a private road :( my fault entirely.

Well basically i'm still not convinced' date=' it's done over 2000miles now and haivng a bit of a play with my mate on the way to work made me think it's lacking oomph somewhere. He's got a V plate Astra 1.8 (0-60 9.5, 122mph etc), and on a dual carriageway at around 70-80mph i was ONLY just pulling away. Given the extra torque of the fab I would have expected it to leave it for dead at the top end, but it didn't.

[/quote']

Not sure what you expect.. the Astre has 125 bhp, only 3 less than the Fabia, despite the supposed difference in torque, the Astra will rev harder and use shorter gearing as a result, which will reduce the torque deficit of the Astra. There really wont be much in it.

but it DOES get better... youll think "wow" when you get it back after the 10k service

Why? There was no difference in mine when i got mine back after its 10k service.

As for older ones with the older gearbox being quicker, cobblers... according to Skoda it posts 0-62 in 0.1 seconds less and registers 1 mph more top speed! :P

Nope you're thinking of the SXi or SRi 1.8 engine (0-60 in 8.5), this is the standard 1.8 engine (as found in the club, comfort and sport) which has only 113Bhp.

The ZS, on the same stretch of road, used to leave it for dead (ok not quite but would happily pull away from it) so I was expecting the Fab to be even quicker. Admitedly the ZS is better round corners so it could be due to the fact that I would exit a corner quicker in the ZS than i can in the fab.

The 10k service DID make a difference on mine, not sure why as it pretty much just had an oil change, but it was noticable.

Theoretically the first service SHOULD make a difference, at least to things like economy etc.

Durring it's first running life engine wear is high as everythings all nice and tight. As the engine puts on the miles pistons, linnings etc will all wear down and loosen up. Wearing down results in bits of metal being rubbed off and taken up by the oil. So by the time it's ready for it's first oil change, although the engine may be looser in itself, the oil is really heavy. After a fresh oil change all the worn in grud is removed and because less wearing occurs after the first 10K subsequent oil changes don't have the same dramatic effect.

All in theory though.

Mine felt better all round after the first service... definitely a good milestone imo.

Well like I say, there was no difference really with mine, so I cant really understand it.

After the 10k service, the Fabia vRS puts out 150-160bhp ... much cheaper than a remap and rolling road proven ;)
